If this is genuine, then please. No hard feelings. The thread has been more active now than always, it’s easy to skip over things.
Like, at the end of the day we are all trading names, and I can acknowledge that. I am just trying to ensure that some people are able to access names–even if it comes with a profit, because when I transferred to the server last year it was very hard to get a name, so I took the opportunity to grab some when the names were freed up. I’ve personally been giving a lot of away, and responding to a ton of inquiries over the ones I’ve listed here, a lot of them ending in trades/the person saying they would get back to me soon. This is my personal way of doing it, I don’t expect everyone else to feel the same.
I guess I just want things to be fun! After all, that’s what we’re all playing the game for, and I know for me, I can’t enjoy a character unless they have a sick name.
As long as Blizz is fine with it, I have no issue with people selling names for high prices. Even I in my post say I’m looking for high prices -I’m absolutely one of the more pricey people to get names from. I’m not in a hurry, and it’s not like there’s not other names out there (or if there’s one someone REALLY wants, I’m up for trades and in the worst case there’s alt codes people can use…)
I am really poor in game so it’s my only way to trade/buy names that I want for now.
The only thing that would be really scummy is looking through past names people wanted and reserving them if they open, only to hold it hostage for high amounts of gold. Even blizz is against that. It is fine to grab it to give to them for free later though.
My main issue is people dumping non-moonguard or even non-rp server names in here. Like, get your own forum. This should be MG majority (preferred!!), MG/WRA, or at the very VERY least rp-server only names.
I don’t either really, especially if it’s a name that would get snatched up early on. My mains are on Turalyon and my god you should see the amount of gold I’ve been offered for my Priests name of Bless! I got a bunch of really good ones there other than hers and I get mail often asking if I’d sell their names.
I don’t know if anyone would want Nubita but I just moved my character from MG to Turalyon so that name should be freed up in a few weeks.

Still looking for the names Scarecrow, Tums and Yeti! Willing to buy or trade certain names for them. Also looking specifically to trade Demon or Creepy for Gloomy, Sleepy or Spooky.
In my opinion, as someone that has perused this thread for a long time now, the original heart of this and the WrA thread was in trying to get people cool names, without the use of alt codes and such, or to try and locate the people that have a specific name that they want to see if they’d be willing to part with it or not. Nowadays its just people trying to scoop up any interesting name they possibly can to try and sell for a profit even if that name is never going to sell.
The names get hoarded forever, and because most people - and, keep in mind that this is a roleplay server, full of people who aren’t typically big gold makers - aren’t really willing to part with 250k-20mil for a name. Then no one gets to use them, which I think is just as bad as an inactive account holding the name until the next name release.
ETA: I totally get why people would want to reserve names to sell for low prices even if it might seem like hoarding, because, if I’m being frank here, some of you are sharks. Like people announcing names being available only to find them on someones “selling, 300k price is firm” list literally hours later.
Back when I was checking name availabilities a few days ago, I had a thought to go through the thread waaaaay back and see if there were names that had been freed up that people were looking for. For a lot of them, it’s true, but those players no longer played the game.
I did find one though and sent the player a mail in-game, saying that the name they would do anything for was available (their post being over a year old now). A day later I get a letter in the mail from that same person, their name now changed, and the joy they had was infectious <3 Shout out to Lily!
I appreciate the change of heart this thread has had since it wasn’t that long ago when this view was scorned.
That’s an interesting stance for Dusk to take when I asked him about Audrey and he’s selling it for 3 mil.
Which is fine, I’m also selling a name for 3 mil, but I don’t understand why they would be complaining about people selling names for a high price while at the same time doing it themselves.
And as I’m scrolling, I see things are getting more interesting. Not sure Thane is the bad guy here. Dusk literally told me a week ago that Audrey is 3 mil gold.
This dood just claimed that each of his character names is worth 4 million gold—LMFAO!!!
This thread should be removed, as it’s become an opportunity for people, including those who aren’t even part of MoonGuard like this guy, to make profit so they hoard a bunch of good names that would otherwise be taken by an active moonguard player.
This thread needs to be removed, or remake with a rule that names listed should be listed with a price and the price is cap at 400-500K

I know I have a more radical view on this than most, but I think 500k should only be reserved for the most sought-after names. Anything more than 100k for 90% of the names posted on here is criminal imo.
What does my pricing have anything to do with yours. So if I lower the prices of my names you’re going to do the same?

Whatever. I just think it’s interesting that your boyfriend thinks 3 mil for a name is way too much but at the same time he’s going to support you by listing your names for 3 mil.

I can’t help but agree. They’re different people, of course, but if Dusk really doesn’t support names being sold for that much, they would be opposed to their partner doing it as well. Its really easy to get caught up in how much names seem to be going for in this thread, but if you were actually altruistic you would be opposed to everyone doing it.
Fwiw, if you want to buy a name for ~$300USD, thats your prerogative. But personally I think anything more than a token is insane and it really sucks that so many people seem to be name hoarding for the sake of some gold. Either you’re wanting to give more people interesting names or you aren’t.
Names are only worth what someone is willing to buy them for. 200k might be a ton for some and a drop in the bucket for others. I’ve never been in the business of selling names, as I’d rather conduct trades. That doesn’t make me better or lesser than anyone else in this thread. The scalpers and horders make themselves pretty obvious, especially the off-server ones. I’m petty enough to hope their posts get buried for being spam and their potential for profit plummets.
I dunno, I feel like I’m going dad mode and need to get out the Get Along shirt, but just making a casual reminder/hope for us MG residents to stay neighborly with one another. In the end, none of this matters. It’s just a game. It’s fictitious currency we’re talking about.
Can we go back to trading/selling/giving names please instead of spamming the thread with arguments on who should sell for what and where?

Its getting hard to look through the Wanted/Selling/Trading between all the bickering, and I dont really want to mute people just to be able to easily read the thread :C
