Seeing a different post made me want to make a reminder.
It’s a good idea when saving a name that you want to use for a later date. Like for the new dwarves coming out next expansion. Always level the first character you get the name with to level 10. A level 10 character will reserve the name for you so that you can delete is and remake it without fear of losing the name.
Even if you decide you want a different race or class, it takes only about an hour to save that name. A level 10 character will hold a name for 90 days after it’s deletion.
You have to be higher then level 10 to save the name for 30 days ( I think it’s 60-70 or 50-70) it’s 90 days if you get a name change. I’ve traded/sold names that were over level 10 same day. Unless it’s like a brand new system?
Not new at all… If you pay for a name change it might be different, but leveling to 10 saves the name.
It might save the name in the character restore list, but it doesn’t save it from being taken by others if it’s deleted, unless it’s a high enough level for others to not take it.
The info I found says names will be reserved to your account for 30 days if the character deleted was level 30+. It will be reserved to your account for 90 days if you used the name change service.
So under level 30 and the name is available to anyone the instant you delete the character.
The information is either outdated or incorrect. I recently traded a lvl 55. As soon as deleted, they were able to access the name. Their lvl 60 I was trading for was locked for 30 days, however.
ETA: I now assume that characters lvl 60-70 are locked whereas the rest are immediately accessible.
