Out of curiosity: What kind of game do you want? Or what were you hoping would be different?

Im actually surprised theres not more posts like this. To be fair its a 15 year old game with dated tech, its definately not for everyone. Good for you tho OP trying different classes and getting to 54.

If you have tried alts, pvp, dungeons and getting to high level but still don’t like it. The game just may not be for you.

If you always play alliance, you coukd try playing horde to see different quest hubs and if you always play pvp and ganking is part of the reason you don’t enjoy it, maybe try pve?
You could duo level with a friend, which is always fun as long as you stay same level and llay an alt or level professions when each other aren’t online.

I think I wasn’t expecting the amount of grind, but that didn’t seem like the main obstacle for me. I expected to enjoy the vanilla grind because of all the hype. I’ve rather just been annoyed by it. Guess I’m too Casul omegaLUL.

I also have been struggling to find a good community of people to play with

Stop playing, then.

I’m not saying “go back to retail” or anything, it’s fine if you don’t like it. Not every game is for everyone, and Classic particularly isn’t for everyone. There’s nothing wrong with just…not playing a game if you’re not having fun.

a wack concept. Think i just feel weird cause seems like classic enthusiasts hate your guts if you say you don’t want to play lol

The grind is real, and the real grinding starts at 60. Thats what classic is basicly. Some people like that, and I liked it very much way back when but now not so much

I gotcha. I’d suggest some MMO’s that focus on grinding like skills based games, maybe even UO or something like that for a more focused grind. Games like that usually don’t focus on quests as much as simply grinding skills to reach max, or GM.

Edit: idk about current UO but there’s a lot of other grindy MMO’s out there.

ESO if you want a story heavy not so grindy MMO. Its a lot of fun.

I played ESO before Classic came out, and Classic has made me miss ESO massively lol.

ESO might have the best writing of any modern MMO.

(One of my friends works on ESO, I’m totally unbiased >.>)

You say you expected things that were bad in BfA etc to be “fixed” in Classic. Yet Classic is the game that was back in 2004 etc, so nothing was fixed. It is just a far earlier iteration of the game prior to the changes that came about during following expansions. In many ways its more complex, and in many ways its simpler. It really depends on what aspects of an MMO you enjoy as against what you don’t enjoy.

Why is current WoW boring? For me, the issue is that its actually easymode. Its easy to get gear. Easy to level. Easy to play the classes. Mana means nothing, it may as well not be a resource at all. There is little challenge in any of the major aspects - warfronts are tedious, dungeons are simple (except at higher level Mythic+ but even then they are mostly a grind), raids are simplifed for LFR and hardly more difficult at Normal and Heroic. And gear is thrown at you as you yawn through the gear levelling process towards…what? What do you actually DO once you have all that easy-to-obtain gear?

In Classic, everything has to be earned and worked for. For me, that’s the major positive. When a piece of gear drops for you in Molten Core, it feels great. The reward is worth the effort put into it.

I guess that’s why I enjoy it. And it’s something that retail has lost, that sense of achievement.

Well, the first thing I want to point out is that you absolutely don’t have to get your ‘pre-raid BiS’ gear before stepping into a raid. That’s a fallacy that has worked into the group-think. If you can follow directions in a raid, and you aren’t an absolute potato player, you’ll do just fine.

The other, regarding PvP. The game is an example of asymmetric balance. It’s a rock-paper-scissors game, designed to be done in groups. Figure out what your PvP niche is, and abuse it. A lot of this game is about using your environment and clever planning and strategy. Less about your rotation.

Classic isn’t a good game it’s just the best that we currently have to offer around these parts. The problem is both Blizzard and the nochangers have the same problem. They both are guilty of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

TBC is a much better at least in terms of class balance.

PvP in classic is utter trash tier in terms of balance.

I have no idea why you’re required to get BiS for pre raiding. MC is a utter ducking joke if you have ever done any intensive raiding at all.

My guild cleared MC with mostly lvl 55-59 ungeared chaps. They cleared for the most part (minus rag and a few others) just cause they aren’t total dunces.

This BiS grind mentality has retail written all over it and I hate it.
