I like there being a competitive PVE title for the esportmen, no issue there. But this is targeting a tiny sliver of a tiny sliver of customers and a tiny sliver of Twitch viewers. We got the race to world first and now the marathon to world best, which affects a few hundred people directly. The esports vods have like 400 views, they are intensely boring to watch, so I don’t really ever see that taking off. This blue post could have been an email to the guild leaders competing for this.
My question is, why the heck I can’t have engi, disenchanting, and gathering on my main? If you wanna grift me for some money, release a paid profession slot
I completely understand why people think something designed for 0.1% of the population is ridiculous to waste time with… I also completely understand why people like to see the top players rewarded in a special way.
However, to me, here is the key part of what was in that post:
If the rest of the game were thriving and doing well, I would have a lot less issue with things being designed for 0.1% of the population. Let’s be completely honest: The rest of the game is NOT doing well. IMO, Blizzard’s time would be much better spent getting the majority of their ducks in a row first and afterwards focusing on special rewards for the extreme outliers. You can’t make a row with 0.1% of a duck.
Have you ever looked at just how many titles and achievements there are in the game, and how many of them are obtainable by everyone? There has to be hundreds of them.
What ‘most focus’? What titles or achievements are there earned for hard content? Even things like AotC can be earned by paying for carries. (And I doubt anyone who earns this title is doing this while being carried. I suppose its possible but lord, it would have to be a group of godlike players to carry someone through that level of play.)
It is exactly what it says it is: an award for a very small number of players determined by their completion of the most difficult content in that form of play. Just as there are many other titles award for completing other forms of play.
See to this person plz. My thoughts that I could not articulate well this evening.
We need blizz to be more involved and better communication - which they’ve really lacked on. We get a blue post and its for something like this. It’s sad to me.
This really should change from the “top 0.1% of player-characters in each faction” to the “top 0.1% of player-characters by class specialization in each faction”.
I like the idea of rewarding titles and giving things for people to strive to achieve. I hate the fact that the reward for things like this reinforces the “meta” rather than rewarding the best players of each specialization. This would be a simple change but would have a very massive impact and it would allow people more freedom who want this to try to obtain it on other specs outside of the meta.
Since you didn’t read past the first line, I’ll repost the part you missed:
I’m saying, go ahead. Make the achievement for the 500 mount owners. But do it after addressing the other really huge tremendous issues going on in the game. Otherwise, it kind of feels like you’re carefully tucking away a photo album in a cabinet in a burning house.
That doesn’t change the fact that its reinforcing the meta concept and your chance of getting this is infinitely better by playing a meta spec. It’s a title. Instead of giving it to the 0.1% of people, give it to the 0.1% of each spec.
I would much rather have a reward system that encourages play on all specs and for people to play what they want to play rather than reinforcing the “meta” concept especially considering how heavily meta specs are already favored in the M+ system.
All they said here that is new is the date for faction swapping cut off.
Again this isn’t really taking anything away from the rest of the game. Unless people think that then posting this is somehow taking huge dev time or something which is just silly.
