It’s really very simple. Almost every run I do finally get a group for does make the timer unless something awful happens. My issue is how are we supposed to get our rating up as DPS if we can’t get into groups?
I am 2046 rating or something close to that, with an item level of 616. My point is almost every +8 I apply for is declined. What are people looking for? I’ve timed almost everything at 7 or better. Do I have to buy a timed +10 to be PuG material? I know all the fights and avoid the two Mythic + dungeons I would rather not do.
Almost makes me feel like I have to tank just to run these things, and I gave that up a long time ago. It just wasn’t fun for me anymore and frankly I almost quit WoW over it. The timer counting down the entire time and you being responsible if the key fails. It is a pressure I don’t need on top of all the other pressure I am under as a groups tank. But yes, before these timers I did everything in tank spec, and it was FUN! Complete opposite for me now.
Your score is too low to be applying for 8s as a pug. You are competing with other players with higher score than you and it’s as simple as that. You have 4/8 dungeons timed at +7 and the other half are either timed +6 or lower.

AK: +7

DB: +7
Mist: +6
CoT: +6
GB: +6

If you calculate these timed dungeons only and remove your top scoring untimed runs then you are now sub-2000 score.
As always there is a wall, once you jump over that things become easier.
The problem is that the wall was the 10s, 12s, 15s, now it is 6s 7s 8s 9s 10s 11s.
I had to run m9 for all dungeons, then did a m10 mist, finally I was getting invited to 10 mists after timing it, then ara kara, then siege, dawn etc etc.
Blizzard thinks, if they gate every single key, people will work for the upper tiers. I can do it for now as I have somewhat free time, but I cannot talk about the same for s2-s3. It is annoying as hell.
You’ve only timed half the dungeons on 7 or more. Give timing them all at 7 a go first so when you apply to people’s +8 they have more confidence in you.
This is par for the course as dps. You pretty much HAVE to have already timed the key you want to do because there are 50 other dps applicants, who also don’t want to heal or tank, who are also applying who HAVE timed the key. If you were making the group would you pick you? No…. Then why should anyone else?
This is doubly compounded by the recent nerf of gilded crests from 9 to 8. Everyone cried for it and now it’s here. Well guess what… everyone who can absolutely stomp an 8 is just farming to the crest cap now. Why would the group maker take a 2000 io player with a 7 timed key to an 8 when he can pick a 2800 io player with timed 11’s or 12’s that is just lookin to farm crests?
Getting to play dps is a luxury. It generally means you are either willing to push super hard at the beginning of a season to get well ahead of the pack for pug worthy io or you have friends to play with that you cqn push keys with for score and pugs are just for farming gear/crests/vault.
You need to push your lowest keys up higher if you want to get into 8s easier.
+8s also giving mythic crests means people who are behind in their mythic crests are flooding the +8 market.
Party leaders will probably take that 620+ guy with 2400 io over you just because it feels like a safer option, even if your gear and IO is just fine to do the actual content.
The list of dps that sign up for keys is filled with many 2k 616ilvl paladins. It just comes with the territory of playing one of the more popular dps specs when they are currently really good.
