Reading about things on the gd forums will generally produce a negative impression.
M+ is just what’s on the label, dungeons with scaling difficulty where the main goal is finishing the run within a timer.
It’s difficult, and most people don’t actually like difficulty even though they will lie about it. Most people hate fairness and equality of opportunity too, and will lie about that as well. Here on the forums a great many people will also claim anyone that likes m+ is also lying or has a myriad of other incomprehensible advantages that other players cant possibly have.
But the reality is that there are tons of keys being run at all levels all the tine. The people who complain they cant get into runs further reinforce this reality by highlighting just how many dps and tanks are swarming the lfg tool at literally all hours of the day (the problem atm is healer shortages, most likely due to the recent affix).
Only blizz has the metrics to know for sure, but I would venture a guess that between delves and follower dungeons bolstering casual content and the m+ changes improving things for higher end pushers, wow is doing very well right now.
And this same roadblock will happen at 7s if they move gilded crests down to that level. Yet none of these people begging doe this change understand this.
We saw the same thing with Valor in DF S1 with people not able to get into +2 and +3 because you had 3k players farming them.
Why take someone whos geared/skilled appropriately and looking to advance when i can takenthe carry folks who are far overqualified
This is also something that might warrant an entirely seperate discussion.
The effect of the Gildeds on 8s change was basically immediate and total on the pug m+ community. When farming weekly crests, wow players will naturally gravitate towards efficient options (in this case now 8s). This has basically pulled tons of people in the 2400+ io /623+ ilvl range down into level 8 keys. The mere presence of these players eradicates any chance for people who actually need score in 8s to get invited to anything. Ordinarily these players would just fill the first groups and be on their merry way, but when you combine this situation with the fairly dire healer shortage (there are ample tanks in the 8+ range) what actually ends up happening is that very few groups fill without these high end players and the few healers left in the pug pool.
I don’t really have a solution for any of this either, simply opening gilded crests to 8s has basically created a pandora’s box situation that cannot be undone. As you mentioned above, if the crest or myth vault thresholds come down further it will only compound the issue with geared players crowding out every level of keys.
This problem is uniquely created by changing reward structures mid season.
I am in same boat as you, I finish all 7+ instance on my lock and I would like to get into 8+ to increase my ranking. However, I keep getting decline all the time. It has gotten very frustrating for me. Sure, folks here will tell me to make my own group but lately, I just keep getting bad players that they keep downgrading my key so its kind of not really worth using my key in pugs because of that.
It also doesn’t help that Blizzard added Challenge’s peril as affix which making lot difficult get into a group. Idk why Blizzard thought its good idea to add that just help with Esport which its dying. All they’re doing is killing any interest for us doing M+.
that the problem, party leader would only inv someone who had done a higher than 8+ key for almost grantee timing a key while people like me who ready to do a 8+ instance are thrown under the bus. How’s that fair? The answer that is not fair it would cause folks like me be burnt out on playing this game and play something else like Black Myth Wukong (which its a great game btw).
Well to be fair though, this issue was going to be present regardless. A 9 isnt really any tougher than an 8 all things considered. Finish an 8 with 3-4+ minutes to spare? Would have timed the 9 as well.
Anything below “portal” levels would create this same issue. If we have to move crests and mythic track gear to 10+ to circumvent this, so be it
It’s funny. I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve seen people post their “pro m+ tips” and one of those tips is always to never invite such people (high io) due to the fact that they are far more likely to immediately bail on a key the moment something they perceive has gone wrong.
The truth is is that everyone has their own personal experiences and that shapes their own personal reality. All it takes is one high io player to tank a key for that key holder to swear off high io applicants forever.
Yes, it would make him look much more competitive against the other players he is applying against. Mist, CoT, GB, and SV is literally half the dungeon pool that he is missing.
