Ok, so I know I am far from the only one disgruntled by this sort of behaviour. And I don’t really care what the excuse ever is. Not every single pug is gonna be a smooth ride, especially in particular, the +8’s and up.
Personally, I believe Mythic+ should be treated the same way any deserter debuff is handled, except, I feel as though for deserting a Mythic+ group, after making so much progress into the dungeon, the player should be straight hit with a 24 hour Mythic+ restriction debuff. Like players should be just allowed to get away with bricking someones key, and basically blocking other players’ progress. If someone’s key gets set back, because of some premadonna, that deserter should pay a heavier price than the keyholder.
I mean, the intention behind running Mythic+ is obvious, and if you don’t time it, it shouldn’t be too big of a deal to complete whats left, and get even just the downgraded rewards. But most ditchers jump ship, well before any hint of not timing, and I believe those people should be punished for that sort of behavior. It’s not right. It’s not fair. And it’s a big deterrent to casual players trying to experience Mythic+ content.
If there has to be an acceptable time to allow people to bail, it should strictly be upheld that it’s only allowed AFTER the time runs out. That way, people will be more likely to finish the dungeon for the downgrade reward. People don’t have to like it, this is just my way to reach out and raise more awareness to the Dev’s
Forcing people to finish every key or be locked out for 24 hours is ridiculous. Did you even stop to think about how this would play out for a few seconds before posting? Player disconnects? Sending your your 14gb you picked up after a 3-chest arak and knowing immediately you can’t survive? You’re suggesting that the game should hold you hostage to whatever under qualified player might be in your key. How even do you differentiate between who you consider to be the offending player when that person might argue that the mouthbreather who got carried to their rating has doomed the key before it even began? Does only the person who leaves first get punished or do they just afk and wait for everyone else to leave?
Shuffle is random queue. Deserter.
BGs are random queue. Deserter.
Heroic dungeons are random queue. Deserter.
LFR is random queue. Deserter.
Do you get the picture yet?
Manual normal dungeon. No punishment.
Manual heroic dungeon. No punishment.
Manual mythic dungeon. No punishment.
Manual normal raid. No punishment.
Manual heroic raid. No punishment.
Manual mythic raid. No punishment.
It’s your responsibility to choose players who meet requirements for the key along with a solid history of recent timed and untimed keys.
Forcing players to stay in your key because you choose bad players is your doing and just lazy. Punishing players leaving because of issues that include wipes, low dps, terrible heals, players not avoiding mechanics, is again not the fault of the player but rather it’s yours.
It is! There is no penalty for leaving a premade group.
How about the leaving player gets to give the debuff to whoever was not carrying their weight instead?
Nobody is obligated to carry someone in a key, especially if that key isn’t being timed. Move on, you don’t win them all, but if you find this happening often it’s time to consider what you’re doing that could cause this.
Someone could join my key, type ‘hahahahaha Doors I hate you, you suck’ then leave group 2 seconds after the timer starts and I would just laugh and relist the key.
The reason for this is M+ is so plentiful and puggable that I know nothing of value was lost. ‘Oh no, someone left, I won’t be able to get 12 crests or see my IO go up a few points, the horror.’ Literally, who cares? It’s a video game.
A 24 hour ban for not wanting to sit for an hour and a half watching people eat frontals? Looks like tomorrow I’m grilling some turkey burgers and watching a movie instead of running a key or two.
while it’d be nice to hit douchebags who leave on one mess up (usually the tank who does it and they’re usually the one who messes up), there’s just no way for it to he administered consistently. There’s too many variables. Best you can do is black list that person and then Just take the hit and run the key one level down and bring it back up.
You have no idea what’s going on in other people’s lives. Maybe their spouse/kid hurt themselves and they had to go afk so they selected to leave the key, timed or not. Punishing with a 24 hour ban is recidivous.
Also, people should never have to put up with verbal altercations. If another player decides to make it their mission in the key to put another player down, no one should have to be forced to deal with that.
I normally do about 6-8 M+ a week at +10 and I accept my completion rate is around 70%. People leave, it’s the pug life.
I get where you’re coming from, OP. I really do. The problem is that any punishment system would end up punishing innocent people as well.
Your best bet would be to try to find a consistent group to run with. That might be a guild, or a Discord community, or even a simple “Hey, want to run a few more?” after a good run.
I think you’re right, i think simple realistic Cause and effect should be in place. 1-2 Hour Leaver Que. or at the very least a 24/hr Unsportsmanlike Debuff that doesnt exclude you from Running keys but at least gives you a clear understanding that the player quits when the going gets tough.
There doesn’t need to be a punishment, but the proposal I made years ago would still work for the purposes of letting keyholders looking for completion be more selective.
Give a deserter debuff that is cosmetic only. So new groups would know you deserted a group recently. Let them do what they want with that information.
LOL. Did you not learn from the heroic dungeon deserter buff? This alone invalidates anything else you have to say on this matter. Pugs will break up for the most random of reasons. If it’s that big of a problem stop doing that content.
they should get punished as i had two groups of pugs brick my 11 intentionally, and oh for people gunna go cry about pick the right people, oh people with a ++11 or +++11 of said dungeon, then they preform like they been carried, or intentionally wipe the group,
these type of players should not only get a 24hr ban, but a IO REDUCTION of a key timed at +++11 io score as well, that would stop the rag quitters and griefers
oh right lets run the 1st boss breath ontop of the group
wipes, lets pull again, repeats it twice, in a row, thats straight up grief
and io should decrease, you earn it, it should be taken away
It depends on what the goal of the group is. If you’re trying to fill the vault, no point in doing anything above M+10 since it will give you mythic track vault gear. Even if the key isn’t going well it may be worth to finish for the vault slot.
If you’re doing keys above 10, you’re usually doing them more to gain .io then fill the vault, since you can do the less difficult 10s otherwise. One or two wipes with the 15s/death penalty per person is usually enough to brick any key and its understandable why people leave if their sole aim is to improve rating.
End of the day it’s the current structure of the M+ system that drives this behavior. The fix would have to start from there.
