The world first brood was done in heroic gear, and I suspect that remaining fights need a nerf more than people need gear.
Not to say that gear won’t help - that is silly.
I don’t have much experience in other mythic raid guilds to know if culture differs than my mythic guild, and I’ve been in the same sweaty af one for 5 years. We don’t give a heck about who has access to what item level of gear, and its not our motivation to raid. We also don’t screen applicants by gear level vs logs, raider dot io, and video submissions. Additionally, even we are wondering who thought the m+ changes was necessary as now it takes us more time to populate our vault, in addition to all the insane amount of things we have to do to stay on the edge of mythic raids. We are prog on brood + but continuously see our keys bricked when having to pug.
The only thing that impacts a mythic raid in terms of gear progression being more broadly available is that it would be another chore we are compelled to participate in to gain advantages/make progression easier.
Otherwise, gear is just means to an end that gets deleted as fast as its acquired. The challenge, achievements, competition, mounts and other cosmetics is why we do it.
So I don’t get why so many on this forum are all like…you don’t need gear, that is reserved for mythic raiders…its like, we don’t care. My entire hardcore mythic guild thinks the m+ changes are overly done and horrid. Like who asked for this? heh.
“M+ Ruined raiding, its easier to get gear”
Fixes M+ so its more challenging and still a viable alternative to Raiding
“WHAA ITS TO HARD, I WANT MY EASY LOOTS”
If you don’t have anything more to say that’s alright, too.
Such insinuations are pretty uncouth, tho. I admitted my mistake and told you where to find my revised statement.
Then Blizz added Delves and screwed up the tuning and Effort/Reward structure pretty much negating what you said.
So we have an army of players in Hero gear that believe they can’t fully upgrade by doing the content where they got that gear since they need Gilded Crests.
They can try and jump into M+ but since Delve rewards are broken in comparison they either get stomped in keys that reward gear on their level or try and prog in lower keys to learn but those keys don’t really exist in this eco system.
Yeah, I consider that work.
My mistake was skimming the quote and neglecting to address the latter portion where you equated running a key to walking / applying for welfare.
If that were the case, then all M+ gear would qualify as welfare, because all of it involves those same things.
Well, we’ve had 8 years of keys being a joke for their rewards.
We are barely 4 weeks into better parity, or maybe even later with the raid buff having the raid be easier then keys (sorta, the later half of mythic always going to be way harder) and the forums are filled with crying.
Maybe raiding should be easier than keys for rewards for 8 years then we can re-evaluate?
I don’t think tuning decisions will be based upon “what is fair” or “what is equitable”. Instead, it will be based on what drives engagement and improves sub numbers.
I fully expect the changes they’ve made to significantly hurt engagement, and thus hurt sub numbers. I would be surprised if there is any other outcome. Regardless of the difficulty, there is no longer progression in M+.
I’ve already cancelled my sub. Will try to get KSM before it ends, but otherwise will wait to see how they iterate on this for S2.
If engagement and sub numbers are the primary directive they should make it WAY more inclusive and put max rewards down in the +2 and normal raid range where the masses are, or maybe even LFR.
I’m only being half sarcastic with this, as popularity of that content would skyrocket with how accessible it is for everyone.
