Uncapped VP provides a pretty big incentive to help your friends (or strangers) in lower keys since whenever someone gains rating, you get bonus VP.
TBF even with rewards capping at +20s, M+ is still massively overrewarding. Especially since it’s by far the best way of getting the materials for crafting 418s.
I even mentioned that in a later post about mythic bosses dropping like 5 a kill to keep up with keys if you only kill eranog every week. 2 weeks 10 infusion with 1 spark.
Other than that it’s a pretty even split between some specs needing weapons or trinkets or higher ilvl tier from raiding vs some specs needing that from m+.
I’m not a huge fan of the model of Blizzard making weapons that are basically on par with legendaries to keep raiding relevant for PvE gearing.
But raiding having like 2-3 giga-BiS slots for most classes and M+ having as much low/medium range gear as you can shake a stick at kinda works at the high level, even if the low/medium end of raiding suffers for it.
Which requires you to kill M Diurna or Raszageth. Which currently requires you to be in a top 500 guild (worldwide).
Whereas to get a 421 wep from the M+ vault requires you to simply complete a +20 key. Which is a lot easier. Minus a couple slots (trinkets, eranog ring, evoker staff, hunter bow), the difference between maxxed M+ rewards and maxxed raiding rewards is not nearly big enough to justify the difficulty difference between 20s and CE.
I think they should raise end of dungeon valor up to 15 significantly, and linearly. This will encourage valor farmers to do all keys 2-15, and we would get rewarded more for it. Spamming 2s and 5s is easy but it’s not very fun and it leaves level 6-14 a ghost town.
The 5 and 6 gives you 421 pieces from regular drops + a guaranteed mythic raid piece in the vault. The M+ loot isn’t as good, you only get the one 421 piece in the vault and a 415 you have to farm keys to upgrade.
If you raid, you could theoretically get fully geared in a week if your guild funnels. No matter how much M+ you do, you’re not getting more than one 421 per week and you’re never getting a 424 (or 430 for the most devoted players).
You also get free loot pinatas every week in eranog and council + a vault from that with giga bis ring a trinket for free.
With the DF scaling changes it’s decently balanced that anyone crying is an idiot.
M+ gets an easier 421 every week and raid gets way more free and faster gear 415+ with the potential of better/higher ilvl gear. Plus the mega upside of its a million times easier to do keys than get in a mythic guild. So they can also easily run keys.
If they had increased the infusion drop rate from raiding it would have been almost perfect.
People act like completing 20s for vault auto locks them some amazing gear on Tuesdays. I’m on back to back weeks of 3 421 options and no upgrade. This week I had three necklaces all with trash stats as my options. I’m already wearing lariat. Last week I had bad stats belt, another necklace and a 1h weapon. I took the weapon, but now I need the dumb luck of a spark dropping to craft a 418 to even make the 421 a slight upgrade over what I’m already wearing (418 2h).
You can also get 424 brood/Raz loot and 421 Dathea/Kurog loot from the raid vault even at 2/8 (easier than 20s by a lot) or two changes at 4/8 (more on par, depends on the dungeon, some easier some harder).
Other than spark acquisition rate I think they did a pretty good job.
Both have amazing trinkets as well, and a BiS ring.
Mythic has a lot of, I feel, not needed accessibility barriers as well with no cross realm and raid ID lockouts.
2/8 on populated servers is already common to pug, and once cross realm opens will be even more common.
I think if raid ID lockouts dropped you would see up to 5/8 mythic in pugs. Dathea seems to be a large step up from the rest of the raid.
Any raid tier item can appear in any raid vault slot
For all other items, you have to have killed the boss on that difficulty to unlock it to drop (so no vault mythic grieftorch until you kill broodkeeper mythic), but that unlocks it for the rest of the season.
