Mythic+ or Raid, The Eternal debate

Mythic raid doesn’t require an excessive schedule it’s possible to find a team that runs 2 nights. I spend 6 hours total per week raiding, actually raiding for less time than I did in AotC guilds. It’s also less time than it takes to pug 8 +10s.

My take is,

Mythic+ is harder on the individual than heroic raiding, but easier on the group than heroic raiding. (Mechanics are hyper fast but the worst you can do is waste a half hour or so.)

Heroic is harder on the group than mythic+ but easier on each individual. (Basically, dumb people can waste your time all night. The mechanics are not hyper fast.)

Mythic raiding is incomparable. I haven’t done it though so I can’t adequately say where I place it but I’d gander it’s without a shred of doubt harder than mythic+

Finally, mythic raiding aside as I don’t know it well, boss fights are 10 minutes long or less for raiding so theoretically you can do in 80 minutes what a dungeoneer has to spend at least 220 minutes doing. So in terms of filling the vault is just depends on who you’re playing with.

Also, you can mess up your keys and still fill the vault without any downside effect to the vault rewards, you just miss out on direct dungeon loot and key upgrading to take advantage of.

I really don’t think difficulty scaling of the content is as relevant as the actual player mentality in this scenario. You can play with 17 raiders and only 1 of them messed up things up for everyone else on a specific mechanic and that’s it prepare to waste a lot of time. With M+ there’s lots of bad players as well because it’s seen as a more casual grind which it certainly isn’t imo but the group is smaller so it’s easier to at least account for 5 players vs. 11/17/25 players

No fanatical raiders spewing nonsense on these forums…

OH WAIT…

That’s not to say fanaticism doesn’t exist on both sides. I’d say both sides have folks that need get out of Mom’s basement and go touch a bit of grass.

And yet if I search for threads about raiding, there are a few dozen. My M+ search? Several thousand. These things are not the same.

Right? It’s almost as if one of those modes has had massive changes to scaling and reward structure recently and the other hasn’t.

Or because one of those modes is intended to be harder than heroic and challenging, hence the name change in the WoD prepatch. People asked for a challenge, and Blizz handed them one. Now all they do is complain about the challenge. Combine that with the toxicity of the players, and the choice to PUG vs running with Guilds/Friends, they brought this on themselves and I can’t feel bad. Raiding is the superior choice since LFR is the only real pugging most raiders do, and LFR is called “Let’s Face Roll” for a reason. You cannot faceroll M+.

I think the folks asking for a challenge are very different from those complaining now. That’s not really a fair comparison.

Personally, my group is fine with the new way of things, but being surprised more people have taken to the forums to complain about M+ than raiding is naive.

raiding is the best.

I am FAR from surprised. I know for a fact when people get what they wish for, they almost instantly regret it. But if the content has challenges, affixes, etc, they why do these people even bother with the content knowing they suck at it and Blizz won’t nerf it any more than they already have?

My raiding tends to be over in a few hours on Tuesday.

I can Mythic all week.

Both are awesome with friends.

Both suck in pug lfrs.

Not too much to overthink.
