This is false. Raiders have indeed always been the primary focus and this has been leaned into much more so in DF. They were on a better track in SL and specifically in S3 and S4 with giving non raiders a way to get tier even though raiders still had an extreme advantage in how much earlier they had access to it.
DF has shifted that back much more hugely in favor of raiding as, once again, the best weapons and trinkets comes from raids while raids also have the earliest means to get tier AND they even added an upgrade path to raid gear to negate the âadvantageâ mythic+ gearing had.
Blizzard has made it all but clear that no life mythic tryhard raiders are their preferred customer base and the solo casual purpose is to fund the game for them and be content to get crumbs.
Iâm honestly not so sure about that. Letâs break these down.
100% drop rate mounts are final boss only. Sometimes thereâs a mount like gmod or jikun that drops from a boss if that boss has a cool model or itâs an interesting place to put one.
Valid but they hadnât even started doing end boss mounts consistently back then. Also every final boss since siege of orgrimmar has dropped a mount for aotc.
The ones from tier raids do. Including eye of eternity as an extension of naxxramas.
In every expansion since mythic became a thing, the 3rd raid tier hasnât had a mythic mount unless itâs also been the last. ToS and EP being the only 2, so there is actually consistency there.
The two actual inconsistencies are guldan in Nighthold having both a mythic only 100% drop mount and a 1% drop mount for all difficulties, and raszageth dropping a % chance mount for all difficulties. Up until raszageth weâd never had a mount from a 1st tier end boss at all, so weâve also still never had a mythic only mount from a first tier end boss.
My assumption is they saw they had an end boss that was a big dragon in a dragon themed expansion with dragon riding and couldnât pass up the opportunity of making a mount out of it, but also didnât want to break their precedent of not putting Mythic only mounts on 1st tier end bosses so added it for all difficulties.
The vast majority of gearing is done in mythic+ not the raids, by a long shot.
You canât even keep up with crafting mats and crests by raiding (itâs literally impossible to crest cap from raiding). Aspect crests have the same issue as concentrated primal focus, being that itâs virtually impossible to acquire them in any helpful quantities from the raid. Everyone will be farming keys for them.
Raiding is a better source of gear if youâre in an extremely good, like top 50, guild that pushes mid/late mythic bosses very earlier in the tier.
For everyone else most gear is coming from mythic+.
Ion loves to live up to his Elitest Jerk status. Will always resent the guy for not putting the slime mount in LFR, which still would have been difficult, and excruciatingly painful, for me due to with my physical limitations, but I could have slowly gotten through it all.
Is it possible that itâs simply an unlisted drop in all difficulties (perhaps guaranteed in Mythic), and weâre just being completely reactionary due to Wowheadâs newfound clickfarming outrage bait?
Weeeelll, to be fair this time they did ask in a poll and Mythic got the most votes.
Anyway donât worry, a few expansion in the future it be content you can solo to get the mount. Something to do in downtime I guess if your not up for Mythic raiding.
Pretty much this. Raiding has chase items that are slightly better than anything else but usually arenât acquired in any significant number until after progress. The vast vast majority of your gear while youâre trying to clear the raid is either crafted, vault, or mythic+ max Valor / crest ilvl.
The first half of the raid doesnât even drop vault equivalent ilvl gear at all.
The game has a different game mode for Mythic, I do Heroic with 13-15 players of my regionâŠI donât want to change my group, I want to progress the next step just like when we changed from Normal to HeroicâŠâJust do itâ isnât a good response for a game that changes its rules.
iâm trying to say you donât have to be liquid/echo material to clear mythic raids. you donât have to play 12 hours a day. you just have to set the goal and be willing to put in the effort.
I guess my confusion is that itâs okay when they only have mounts for AotC and not CE, but when itâs vice versa itâs âWoe is me Blizzard hates usâ?
mythic raids have been fixed at 20 people for years now. donât try to make it sound like they just changed it yesterday for this raid and this mount reward.
I do agree with this this is a more attractive way to implement taking in consideration the rainbow of type of players and their different gameplay WoW has.
I also have a âtiny un-confirm suspicion or more of a hunchâ that causals will get their version to earn a variation/re-color of such Daronriding skin in the future trading posts (some other quest, kill rare or world achievement).
