There has been some discussion recently about Blizzard using a death limit instead of a timer in Mythic+. I was just thinking, instead of removing the timer entirely in favor of a death limit, what if they added a death limit AND made the timers a little more forgiving.
This way, it would reduce the stress of the timer a little bit while still requiring the group to keep a decent pace without dying too much. This would eliminate the tactic of waiting for CD’s for every pull, lust for every boss, etc. It may also put more emphasis on using CC rather than just doing huge AOE pulls, which imo would be more interesting gameplay.
If there is an appropriate death limit, it would incentivize playing slower, safer, using more CC and making less mistakes, which would still keep the timer relevant. The pace of the runs would change, favoring a more methodical approach rather than just rushing and cleaving everything.
No idea, that’s something that would need to be figured out. A 10 death limit for instance would allow for a single wipe and a few incidental deaths. Two full wipes would be a failure. Perhaps it could take into account whether it’s a three or four boss dungeon, so maybe 3-4 death limit per boss.
Is that thread specifically discussing the hybrid approach? No, it’s about the death limit in lieu of the timer. Maybe some commenters brought the idea up but it’s not what the OP was about. Thanks for your contribution. Good bye.
None of those people are complaining about the timer in Mythic+ lol. The people that do complain about it would complain even harder if a death counter was added since those are usually the people getting killed.
People will always find something to complain about. That doesn’t mean you don’t try to think of ways to make things better. Players have been complaining about things since alpha, and the game has made many changes based on player feedback over the years.
