Deaths instead of timer. Yay or nay?

According to Wowhead, Blizzard released a survey about the idea of M+ using a limited number of deaths like Delves instead of a timer. I can see how some people would like this, but I’m not sure if it would be better than the current system, since even a cursory glance at the idea hints there might be as much or even more of a problem than the timer.

What’s everyone’s thoughts?

Nah.

It’d promote incredibly degenerate gameplay once you get into higher keys.

People will literally just set a 10 minute timer after each pull to ensure hero is available (as well as all other cooldowns). It’d turn 30 minute dungeon runs into raid nights.

Would it matter as much at lower levels?
No, of course not. Because nothing does.

Perhaps a Death system could be used if Hero and it’s equivalents become limited (say: 1 use per boss in the dungeon). But even then you can still benefit by waiting on everyone’s personal CDs, which can be 3-5 minutes depending on spec.

HELL NO, y’all do not want the dungeon meta to devolve into “AFK 10 minutes between every pull so you have Bloodlust on every pack, hard CC every single mob besides one and kill everything solo.”

If they do this I just hope players enjoy 1 shots from enemies.

Also if healers didn’t feel valuable now… whew boy.

I think this would be a terrible idea and one that needs thrown in the toilet. M+ needs to make the player feel better rewarded for completion…not this.

Unless if it’s arbitrarily high, people will find a way to fail, and we’re back to complaining again.

And if it is arbitrarily high, does it even exist?

say it louder for the people n the back that want to remove rthe tmer

I think folks are focusing too much on degenerate gameplay and not enough on the statement that losing all your lives would work similarly to delves, in which you miss out on the “bountiful” chest at the end.

Imagine you’re in a key, 45m have already gone by because the group is being incredibly careful, but accidents happen and all your deaths are gone. Then, you get NOTHING at the end if you finish, no pity gold, no gear, only a hefty repair bill and frustration.

If you think the toxicity is bad now, wait for the absolute dog piling on the poor dude that had the last death in the key, yikes

keys wuld be longer they would not be shorter. imagine waiting 8 minutes for a brez or maybe even 18 minutes for lust and breezes. nobody wants to do that, if that was the new rewrk of m+ i’d just quit bc I’m wanting to play a game, not the waiting game.

imagine 10 lives in a m+ key.

Completion rate would plummet to 10%.

It would make parties with multiple tanks more viable.

Who needs a DPS check if the only goal is to survive?

Seasoned vets have dungeons with 20+ deaths and still two chesting keys.

It’ll ruin m+.

That’s by far not the norm.

People also aren’t playing exceedingly careful.

Same difference to me. You can pick your poison of fighting a timer or fighting your cooldowns. Neither is particularly more difficult if you min/max for the situation.

No, the timer’s difficult enough for people.

That’s why people want it gone.

No. Because as long as it isn’t a full group wipe, you can still time runs with multiple deaths.

Just ran a 10 SV that had 14 deaths and we still timed it (healer died 6 times from eating purple swirlies on the ground and like 2 lava cannons >.< 2.9k alt and still dying to this stuff).

I love this. Everyone thought that delves were going to be changed. “ OH WAH DELVES ARE TO EASY, DELVES GIVE BETTER GEAR. Get over it folks, even Blizzard acknowledges that people don’t want to waste their time in mythics. This is a GOOD change for the game.

People who abused delves RUINED mythics, not vice versa. Blizzard now sees that Delves are popular and NOT mythics.

Correction: it would make parties with multiple tanks mandatory.

If you thought the tank shortage we’re currently experiencing is bad, wait until you see what happens when the meta becomes running four of them.

I agree to an extent but what if your key only allowed for 2-3 deaths? That would add a different layer of difficulty.

It’s the same thing to me. Limit deaths or limit time (which discourages deaths). M+ isn’t really that dynamic bruh.
