There really should be a streamlined option for each old expansion almost like a straight through campaign quest. So new players can play story mode if they want.
The current state of leveling often encourages the quickest route to max level and skipping content or leaving content part way through to advance. This is preferable for people who are leveling alts but can definitely see the other side in this situation as being frustrated when you can’t finish a quest chain because the game is pushing you in a different direction.
The fact never crossed my mind as the topic doesn’t involve endgame and only questing and leveling…
I got into ESO for a while, saw some end game stuff had a blast because it was something different but no matter what, I always come back to WoW. Always. I’ve played final fantasy and other RPG games. Currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 which I am hooked on. However, I am still downloading WoW. I even bought a 6 month sub and have played twice, but I always have it there.
I got hooked many years ago and even though I know for a fact that I’m not enjoying the game I still have it installed ‘just in case’ the spark that kept me entertained for over 10 years comes back. I wish It would, but what can ya do.
The only thing I can think of to corroborate the first bit is that Ion doesn’t transmog on his shaman, and Lore has said something along the lines of “we don’t want to ruin people’s immersion with silly transmog options”.
Which, I mean… I disagree with the statement from Lore (and think it would benefit the mog scene a lot if Blizz were to loosen restrictions on items or armor types for transmog), but Ion can have his opinions on things.
True, however some might look at it as a “troll” thread or stirring the pot behind an alt.
Not saying that’s how I feel, I personally don’t think it matters for a topic like this (as you mentioned). I just wanted to provide my opinion on expectation management.
I’ve always wished we had a queue system that could allow us to play any of the dungeons at max level. I could easily be happy with just 5 mans if we had such a large assortment.
I spend a lot of time leveling low level healers just to delete and restart because healing 5 mans is WoW for me. While I would raid with my old guild I always preferred the 5 man content but at the same time I don’t like the atmosphere of end game content. If I could queue for every 5 man at once I wouldn’t need to keep rerolling characters.
Immersion? That implies a complex story line with rich depth to the supporting characters. What we have right now are tumbleweeds for the next four months and your choice of the same M+ over and over, or raid bosses over and over, or WQ’s over and over, or getting one shot in the unbalanced pvp over and over.
Immersion… that word… I do not think it means what they think it means.
Yeah, I’m not sure how tuxedos, hunters/fury warriors wearing leather, or flower crowns would be immersion-breaking for people.
Right, because most of us care about the general impression the WoW forums and the people that post here way too much.
I post to make a point and/or reply to a point. If someone disregards me because I haven’t made enough posts to their liking, then I totally do not care.
(just reacting to the point being made, not attacking you Kyniva)
I think other games do a much better job of letting you play the previous stories.
ESO and GW2 are, in my opinion, doing a good job at giving you the full story experience. Sure you can use paid level boosts and go get into the new content but for others that actually want to play story, it’s all sitting there for you to progress through.
I’ve played ESO and GW2 essentially as single player games just playing through the story and doing some crafting. It’s fun and large parts of both games are completely free. Just download and play.
Also GW2 has engineers, necromancer’s, and warriors that can dps with a shield, if that’s your thing. The great thing is you can always just go month-to-month on WoW and not worry about losing your character. So if you get bored you can play one of the other games and then come back to WoW.
There’s nothing that says you have to quit any of the games and declare your allegiance to only one of them.
Because it’s not, WoW hasn’t been immersive in years unless you’re on a the try hardest rp server. It makes me laugh that I can run around with a buffed out naked body and wiggler head made out of patchwork and buttons in Monster Hunter and still be immersed in my hunter’s journey. But Blizzard will scream in my ear making a neat transmog to match is ‘immersion’ breaking.
thats not how content works and i’d wish you’d stop speaking as if you knew how.
It doesn’t work that way if you don’t allow for it. There is nothing that says it can’t.
It could… easily. Most of it would be numbers tuning rather than grossly redesigned systems. With the pre-existing scaling (and no doubt, new content already designed for scaling later) the grunt work has already been done.
