Another thread about retail players whining that questing is too slow and that they have to form a group and so on… /yawn
I can almost picture the tantrum like one them kids in Walmart.

There’s really no getting this through to the anti-RDF trolls. They’ll just continue repeating “RDF is in rEtAiL!@!!” without using whatever it is they house inside their skulls in place of a brain.
Yea completely took away the option of an alt for me lol
I’d love to level a DK or Pally.
Ok so you did, is there any difference between Shadowlands and Wotlk in terms of gameplay to you?
I could build a group for Naxx, OS, EoE, Trial of the crusader, ICC or RS… but don’t expect them to come in a timely manner…
Even if you add RDF to wrath classic, Wrath and Retail are still not the same game.
It’s faster than dungeoning. If dungeoning were worth doing, people would do them and you wouldn’t have trouble finding a group.
I ll log this under “user related problems”
When a flight attendant greets you, not only are they being polite, they are observing you and how you react to that. They can tell who would be more willing to help out in case of an emergency.
When you form a group, you create some empathic bond and you could tell what to expect from others just by paying attention to how you got grouped with them. If someone says “hi, could you tank for X dung?” I know they’re more willling to stay for the dungeon completion rather than someone that says “inv.”
So, could you care to elaborate what’s the incentive to have a social interaction behind a group that was formed for you?
i dont think a game system is at fault for a group being social or not but that’s just my opinion.
I don’t know how you could possibly argue either way when it’s literally just different humans in each group.
No they won’t. Field of Dreams was a fantasy movie about ghosts coming back to play a baseball game. I might have been inspiring for some people but it doesn’t happen in real life. Like the other cliches it’s nonsense. Just like believe in yourself and you can do anything you want. No you can’t, some things are beyond your native ability no matter how much you believe. Or Follow your bliss and doors will open and it will all work out. No sometimes it won’t work out.
WhatsApp, Facebook, Reddit, Tinder, smartphones, etc.
Edit: ask communicologists. I did.
I don’t think these are 1 to 1 comparisons but if that’s the line you want to draw that’s on you.
Different people in different groups, different social interactions. crazy to think about
How could this be possible
People realized there was no need to talk during a run with RDF, this slowly deteriorated the social interactions until they became silent; at some point, people were either told to shut up or kicked just because they asked a question. Add on top of that the Broken Windows Effect: people started to ninja-loot things and this fostered that practice because there wasn’t any repercusions on a local level.
The system removed that incentive, that’s what deteriorated communications.
And it’s not crazy to think about it at all, people would call others instead of sending text messages, people would go to social situations to date other people, now you swipe right. Sure, people still give phone calls and date people they meet face-to-face, but take a look at the statistics. Systems can change how people interact with each other. And how it has changed in the past 40 years has been… I can’t find a word to describe that: impressive, intriguing, interesting, unpleasant at times, discouraging, amazing, and the list goes on.
There are testimonials in the forums, reddit and other sites where you could see this social decline as it happened. You would have to search from 2010 to 2014 though.
Edit: I suspect this effect has prevailed, for people have played WoW longer with RDF than not. But this is just a theory.
im glad u typed all that. but anyway yea i think it depends on the group and the people within the group because that’s what makes sense and logical
Human behavior at a social level. Luckily, sociologists and psychologists have studied how we interact with each other. Well, think whatever you want, I’m not here to change your mind.
Are you sure about that?
Tried and failed, my booty, you just were not worth anymore of my time. I decided that arguing with a brick wall is more productive.
Yeah talking is disabled in RDF, so is queueing with that same group again.
I think the issue is that a lot of anti-RDFers haven’t played Retail in a really long time. They have this misconception that Retail is built around RDF, or LFD as it’s called in Retail. When it’s actually only used for the 10 to 20 hours it takes you to reach max level. The truth is Retail is as “social” as Classic is at least at max level.
No they don’t. Back in the beginning of Vanilla Classic there was a long thread asking people why they like classic more than retail. By far the biggest reason was the talent tree changes the started in Cata and got worse and worse each expansion. There were some who said the destruction of Azeroth in Cata, or that classic was harder, and some even said the lack of community and blamed that on rdf/lfr. But far and away the talent tree changes was listed as the biggest change classic players didn’t like in retail. Those against the rdf know that. They’re just using go back to retail as an insult when they can’t respond rationally or make a good counter argument.
Really? How strange. Why would they do that? /S
If you read my post you know that we talked, and that we stayed together. So I’m missing your point. I had a nice experience with people from my server. And not all of it was in the instance.
