My "Social" experience leveling a new toon thanks to no RDF

You don’t say?! All these years none of us knew that!

We used to have to walk to the BG portal to queue. Stop with that nonsense.

Agreed. This truly is the ONE.

Everyone acting like rdf didnt exist in the first place cause the devs wanted a social experience, rdf didnt exist before because no one had ever done it before so it wasnt there for wow devs to go “thats a good idea”. They added it in the first place because there was vanilla and 2 expansions worth of dungeons and it wasnt worth doing dungeons below 80, it was all dead content that wasnt worth doing.

I think a good compromise is only vanilla and BC dungeons should be rdf. There wont be a negative impact on the social aspect of the game, more people will play it this way, more people will enjoy it this way.

PERSONAL RANT TIME, in my personal experience 90% of the people i ran into while questing on classic blatently ignored me when i asked for help or suggested teaming up to do some quests. The game socially as intended was unplayable to me, I had to solo all of questing and all my lazy friends didnt want to help me. I got more friendly people questing in retail where its completely unnecessary. While they’re at it they should do away with mob tagging again and generate personal loot ONLY for mobs outisde dungeons and raids so everyone can get their quest items. Have to specify only, wouldnt want to trigger the nostalgia babies with personal raid loot.

This “golden” era where theres no rdf and everyone helped eachother and it was easy to get a group of randoms that arent pricks is just nostalgia. The “social experience” in classic is bad below max level so just let them make it easier. Especially since the majority of playing is below max level.

Mmm, condescension. Nice.

Funny thing is that when I last checked the achievement for RDF was actually in Wrath Classic, and as far as I can tell it’s primarily an extreme vocal minority that sees extreme restriction as a good thing.

Having the OPTION to live in a stone age doesn’t always mean it’s your best option. Mayhaps ponder that, young grasshopper.

It’s amazing how many people forget that this actually did change.

yup, I subbed for the pvp of classic wrath, don’t give a damn for questing just wanna cap and pvp, but it’s such a slog with forced questing I don’t even bother with my priest, I unsubbed again, Blizzard can’t put out what ppl want to play anymore.

I… Respectfully disagree. RDF was always a lame idea. If you don’t want to play 99% of the game, why bother playing the last 1%?

This mentality was fine for Vanilla, but Wrath began the era of including everyone in endgame to at least some limited extent, and lifting barriers.

RDF not existing is stupid and trying to gate the experience at 80 with “are you committed enough” is why games like Classic that came out years later crashed and burned.

Jesus…. How old are you? Maybe the “experience” and novelty of the good ole days felt good and exciting, but those days have passed. Sadly, most of us are adults who have real responsibilities that don’t allow us to waste time in game. I play both retail and classic and cannot justify playing WoW if I’m not actually accomplishing something.
You anti-RDF’rs/purists… the game evolved. High schoolers became adults. We can’t all be stuck in the modes of the past.

P.s. Im not saying that you’re wrong in your preferences.

Then why are they keeping it in retail? It would destroy low pop servers. Getting into groups would be a nightmare.

How should I know? They’ve only established at some point that they want classic and retail to be two separate experiences.

I don’t think they are sharing all the information that they have, but then again, they don’t have to. We only know what Brian and Kris have said on interviews; everything else is speculation.

Yeah, because 99% of the game is assembling a group, running/flying to a dungeon, summoning the lazy people, waiting for them to take the summon, et cetera… Did you even think about that before you posted it? Lol.

RDF? Hate admit it, all i can think of is “Robotech Defense Force”. What exactly is that initials for? But i say go ahead vent. No one is paying for your monthly sub, but you

Thanks for this quote. We do have it “in some form”.

The issue with the way RDF was back then was there was no community policing. Someone could ninja, bully, and treat others like :poop: without retribution.
With keeping it server specific, we can keep those behaviors in check.

theres none now, heck, theres no real community unless your are in the clique of elitist jerks. the elitist gatekeepers trolled people and insulted them with impunity until folks just got tired of it and quit using lfg.

lol what server do you play on? Not the case at all on mine.

My god the doom and gloom that comes out of you specifically lol

I won’t go too deep in policing and how it works bc I don’t want to insult you in this friendly toned conversation we’re all having here.

You’re in LFG and you notice a warning spam about a claim that someone ninjas a drop. You then checkout your realms Discord channel for proof of said claim. Usually these claims are proven with screen shots in channels specifically built for reporting these things.
You then can decide to avoid this player and his guild or not.

That is community policing.

There’s a whole lot that happens but this is basic.

All the best

Anyone who thinks rdf will magically make everyone always in dungeons is wrong. You will be in queue for a long time as dps, and sometimes as healer.

rdf will greatly help the leveling experience. it gives you much better access to dungeon groups. More options is a good thing and it won’t stop people from forming their own group. The more people at 80, the more people available to do endgame.

Separate the servers and will know real quick who the majority is…

Absolutely, the need for rdf for vanilla is a must to get past the atrocious leveling experience there. One of the only reasons I do not make new characters is due to how terrible the questing experience through vanilla has been extremely overdone and worn out to the point of exhaustion. Every person I know agrees there should be something to assist in getting through that process. I heard the argument that no rdf keeps the dungeon finding social aspect intact, this is simply not true. I have been in many groups where we barely say anything besides “are you tank? are you heals?, we are doing “x” dungeon”. Why wouldn’t you put something like that in? I have yet to hear a reasonable excuse for it not to be there for vanilla content part of the game. If you do not like it do not use it, then the rest 75%+ will.
