My Retribution Paladin & Enhancement Shaman "meme spec" experience

Improved totem talents give minimal upgrades and a resto shaman can take these talents too.

Oh I know who you mean…I know the nugamer community is gonna jump me for this but…imagine thinking Ret Pally/Enh Shammy is what is meant by meme spec. >.<

Dude, I love Enhance, I wish it had real value, believe me. It brings nothing in both PVE and PVP in Classic.

Dig it. As do I. You can actually do alot of interesting stuff w/Enh providing you put the time & research into it. Regardless, it’s not a “meme spec”. Actual specs aren’t meme specs. People using terms incorrectly (not to sound like that guy) is part of why some in the community are having trouble w/game concepts (from complaints I’ve seen). I don’t like misinfo that’s all.

But I don’t disagree that Enh doesn’t really shine in Vanilla.

Please tell. From my perspective, Enhance contributes nothing that another shaman spec or another class can do better.

Not all specs are valued equally in Classic. Some trees are PVP focused and some are PVE. Sadly, Enhance is obsolete at both for shaman.

Like what? I don’t think I’m struggling with any in game concept.

Thanks man, totally got me out of that idea.

You’re not wrong about the talents. PvP, PvE & Raid trees. Enh actually can be pretty dang good in PvP (up against certain classes-particularly where Ele struggles in a PvP setting). e.g. In a Shammy vs. Shammy fight, I’d put my money on Enh based on personal experience & also observing fights, with the caveat the Enh Shammy knows what they’re doing. Ele struggles heavily w/mana until they’re geared well. Enh is a bit hardier & has a different rotation they favour. But esp against other casters in a PvP setting, I’d put my money on Enh. They also can take down a Warrior in a BG better than Ele, the preferred PvP spec. Again, Ele shines when geared right, Enh has some wiggle room there, but they favour sword & board so it makes sense.

(That wasn’t directed at you, actually. I’m generalizing ofc, but from conversations I’vev seen, some new players have been avoiding going certain specs despite thier viability because people are saying things like actual specs are meme specs for example. When in reality, helping those players understand that spec’s utility would be more productive).

Enhance has a huge problem being kited. Ele doesn’t suffer this nearly as much.

Don’t take 1v1 into consideration. It’s a team format. Ele can blow up those warriors while their team gives them the space to do so.

This system has been in place for well over a decade. There have been countless Enhance rankers who in the end, concede and go Ele because it gives control’d burst and range while providing the same utility as Enhance.

If vanilla lasted longer, I’m sure Enhance would have been further buffed to be more relevant.

In my experience at least, w/Enh, I don’t have to worry about situational dependence. I can hold my own pretty well but I’ve been playing a long time, so I honestly don’t know if that has something to do w/it.

Again, can only draw on my personal experience & other Enh Shammys I’ve known, who had taught me alot thruout the years. I honestly have no trouble being kited, so I’m not sure why that would be. (I’m not arguing, I seriously just can’t see the correlation as I can’t relate to it).

Lol you’re prolly right. They get better in BC & shine in Wrath.

A smart mage will keep out of range of Earth Shock and Ghost Wolf doesn’t clear or even reduce slows or snares like a druid would.

I love the theme of Enhance, it just needed a little more love in Classic to keep up.

Very true. I actually just rolled a Ele Shaman not long ago. It was my first spec back when I first started WoW, then I rerolled Enh & loved it much more, so I’ve stuck w/that. I’m currently levelling an Enh & Ele and the diferences are interesting, but I still have a ways to go w/my Ele, so I’m interested to see how it goes lol They almost play entirely differently tbh. Maybe that’s just me heh

I actually prefer leveling Enhance all the way. Earthbind kiting provides a good pace.

If you level in group content, be sure to grab a Ravager from SM and watch yourself become an AOE god.

Yeah, dig it! I’m having a blast w/that again on my Enh! It’s been an epic nostalgia blast!

Oh, right on! The AoE was alot of what sold it for me! Next I’ll roll a resto and be a true altoholic. Good times. :joy:

Real talk this made me lmao

Yeah but, we don’t strictly follow a meta.

People have a strange definition of “doing nothing” in my experience. Doing suboptimal? yes. Doing NOTHING? No.

It sucks that they didn’t value or appreciate you. It’s like it was a corporation and not a guild.

Of course, they aren’t doing nothing, it’s that they contribute nothing better.

A raid has limited spots, there’s no reason to favour one player over another if they contribute less. If they have proven more reliable than your other raiders, of course they will have value for you despite their specs short comings.

Dude raids are face roll right now. We literally don’t need half the gear in MC. Just bodies to help get TF or Eye.

Guild means something, and sounds like his did not value its members.
