My Retribution Paladin & Enhancement Shaman "meme spec" experience

That’s a wild assumption.

Edit: Rereading OP, his guild does seem petty for asking for a refund on NF. That’s a complete joke.

My point still stands, that a guild that values efficiency doesn’t necessarily mean that they don’t care for their individual members.

Exactly man. That’s just low class behavior right there, dishonorable.

So then what is the issue? I love how people seem to forget that the hardest part of classic is not the content, it is getting skilled people to show up(for most guilds).

“meme” specs are doing enough damage right now to beat the last DPS check in the game in patchwork. I will 100% take someone who can do mechanics and shows up every week(as long as they are doing well for their given class obviously) over some unknown who does twice the DPS. Warriors and rogues have been the most flaky guild members in my experience so far.

Obviously, more efficient guilds suffer this less than others.

For sure. What if all of your players check these marks though? Who do you take?

I mean no offence by this, but that sounds more like a flaky guild. In that scenario, you need better rogues and warriors. It’s possible the better rogues and warriors are joining better guilds.

Think we are second/third on our server on the warcraft logs so not many better on the server. I would like to see evidence that efficient guilds have better retention. Efficient guilds might have better recruitment sure, but the content is easy. Fast clears dont make people log on everyweek, the community does.

Sure if guilds have that problem of too many? then yeah, take whomever meets the goals of YOUR specific raid group. For the rest? it does not apply.

We have only had 1 person leave for a “better” guild, and they were only with us for a month or so. Everyone else who has left either returned to their old guilds or burned out on the game.

Sorry, I shouldn’t have assumed that all realms work similar to my own. I’m on a full server, we don’t suffer this to the same degree.

I wholeheartedly agree that each guild has their own goals.

Attendance points ensures that most log on for raids each week. We’ve lost members for multiple reasons but recruitment isn’t a problem. It doesn’t happen regularly.

Sounds like OP was in a min/max tryhard guild with a pseudo loot council. Try being a meme spec in a casual raiding guild; they will not care and you will still clear the content, and it’ll be more fun. I raid as feral whenever I feel like joining a pickup and it’s a good time for all.

Feral actually performs well when you put in the time between raids and when compared to resto druids. A raid still wants faerie fire and mark of the wild, the gap of value isn’t as large as say a resto shaman and an enhance.

It’s not in the same boat as moonkin, ret or enhance.

Sure, and if you are in the top 10% of guilds? They have the luxury of being selective to the point where they actively exclude smart people who are willing to work hard, but wanted to play something that is not optimal. If that is what they value? they have the option(note, they dont have to).

For most people the question isnt: Resto Shammie or enhance shammie, its enhance shammy or 1 less shammie than we want.

lol my guild always has a few arms warriors laying MS down on Nef, as well as a few shadow priests and boomkins.

Well, he had that - the problem was they didn’t gear him; as they took a look at the cost/benefit analysis of gearing a super inferior spec and went…

“Nah”.

Proper Ret set comes from AQ40. Wait till then, and find a better guild who doesn’t treat them like second class citizens.

Your shaman experience is really coming from a fundamental misunderstanding of the class. It’s a caster class with a side serving of melee. Unlike every other melee class, you have no defenses in melee, except one thing, possibly using a shield. This destroys your already low damage potential. It should be obvious just from looking at class abilities, that shamans are not meant to be primary melee, and attempting to do so is going to leave the shaman player with a bad experience. It’s there as an option for easy grinding and leveling. At cap, you are expected to make full use of your caster abilities and melee as a supplement to that in pvp. Not melee as your primary option.

I can melee with my warlock using a meme soul link firestone dot build, and actually it works. But I would be insane to expect any guild to give me a primary Melee weapon over an actual melee class to do that. Same thing with your shaman. Melee shaman is just straight memeing in Classic. Sorry.

Most people knew these specs were not competitive with real DPS classes to begin with. This is not breaking news.

Paladin t2 is for 1hander dps.

Get BDS set and CoD. Stop being bad.

Meme specs aren’t really rewarding.

Even Warlocks can be annoying because you don’t get much hit, playing a boomy must be annoying when you get resist after resist because the Devs only cared about like 3 classes.

Yes the same Kaine.

Every spec isn’t viable. Why are these lazy people making dumb meme spec posts every day. Do you understand warriors like to be MS? But the 12 warriors in your raid ARENT MS are they. Your tanks aren’t and your dps aren’t. They spec in the way most beneficial to the raid, and grab PvP gear when they can. Then they respec. That’s how to be a valuable guildie, by respecting other people’s time and energy by not bringing less optimal specs to 40 man content. Don’t like it? Go PUG

Gotta love it when people say a word that means exactly opposite of what the word actually means. It’s how we got rhetorical questions to be such effective tools at shutting down presentable arguments by making it so that the other person loses no matter the response.

Have you considered not playing Enh and instead playing elemental?

No? Well of course you think shamans are a nightmare to play, then.

Nah, if you want nightfall uptime, give it to an orc warrior with WF and the ZG neck and rank 7 gloves for 5 rage cost hamstring. he can spam that endlessly all while still doing good dps.
