If other people choose to boost okay cool, but I personally hate it. When you boost to max level, you’re thrown into a situation where you didn’t have to take the time to learn and figure out your class through trial and error like those who leveled a character legit for the first time did. Thus, now they’re max level and have zero idea what they’re doing or how to play their class and spec. Most don’t even bother to look at a guide. They just throw points in wherever, buy cheap gear on the AH and think they won the game.
Like I legit just had a pally tank a heroic ramps who had 8k hp, who was getting 3 shot… When I asked if he was def capped, he replied with “What’s def cap? How do I know?” Had the guy had to learn his class from level 1, he’d know how to play and the rest of us who know what they’re doing won’t be held back by those who don’t. He refused to let the DK tank because he thought he was doing a good job just because he held threat.
TLDR: Being held back in group content by boosters who have zero idea what they’re doing. It’s a learning curve that all players should know well before they hit max level, but most boosters I’ve encountered in group content do not, and are holding back those of us who do. Sure they can be replaced but there’s just way too many boosters, who’s to say you won’t replace one trash can with another.

Thankfully most boosties still wear their boosted gear so it’s a huge tell, just don’t invite them. The last thing to go is usually their trinkets. If they’re serious about the character, they’ll be doing group content with friends/guild members so you won’t really encounter them and they may know their class to a certain degree.
Ignore the boosties, play around them, Blizzard continues to muddy the Classic spirit and people keep defending them.

Hard to play around them when a lot of boosties just join GDKP’s and get all the gear they need. Now you have a T6 warlock who’s doing 300dps cus he doesn’t understand how to play his class. Did a kara that took 4.5 hours last week because our tanks her garbage, and most DPS were doing less than 300 dps, yet every single one of them were at least in kara gear. Like when I gotta play detective and ask for logs just to do a heroic dungeon, that’s when you know there’ s a problem.
This is classic. Most classes can be picked up and learned in a few hours. I’m not necessarily anti-boost, but I’m not pro boost either. I understand why people use it, especially with the lack of RDF.
Unless its the tank, you don’t need to do this anymore. DPS is so high that being undergeared is irrelevant at this point.

I’m not saying they can’t be. I’m saying that most DON’T.
Some of us have boosted a class that we’ve already played for 10+ years, including WOTLK, so not all of us need to “learn the class”.

That is 1000% different then what I said was the issue. People boosting classes they haven’t played from level 1 before, and thus they have no idea what they’re doing or how to play their class or spec.
“boosties wont know how to play and no I wont be nice and help them”
Real social community we have here.

To be fair I see lots of full tier 6 players for the last 6 months that do 300 dps. So nothings changed?

I have no problem helping but I’m not a babysitter. It’s not my responsibility to make sure other’s know how to play. Even so, there’s no many boosters that I’ve encountered who genuinely don’t know what they’re doing or how to play and don’t seem to care enough to even read a guide that if I had to help and teach every single person I’ve come across that don’t, I’d get very little time to actually play and enjoy the game for myself.
Idk…how dont they?
Unless it was like TBC hunter where it had actual depth.
How would a TBC lock not know how to shadowbolt or a mage not know how to spam arcane blast?

People shouldnt boost tanks unless they know them. I want too boost a shammy but have never played the class.
If i decided to boost one i would research and quest and do normals before doing a heroic.
Not all players will be as bad as that pally tank.
Nobody is asking to carry dead weight, but flat out just ignoring people who may well be otherwise competent players is pretty rough to do in an MMO. Can’t help everyone and nobody is asking that you do, but singling out players because “lol boosted” isn’t a good look in support of a health community

because they don’t know how to gear their toons and what stats are important. They understand cool downs, when to use them or understand procs. Even specced arcane at least in TBC, arcane mages were arcane missling, not understanding that arcane blast is their main ability.
They don’t ask around or read guides.
You sound entitled. It’s their money their rules. You don’t pay for their sub. What they do isn’t your problem. You have no right in lecturing others. Until you pay for their sub you should keep quiet and st*u.

It’s hard to single anyone out when there’s so many. People don’t wanna carry dead weight, but with so many boosters, half the time that’s what you get.
how’s that even possible? like throw one spell and you’re doing 3X that.
Classes are super easy, you can learn them in like 15 minutes or less. Might take a second as a brand new player. But most boosts are bought by players with characters at max level already

If you think people arent reading guides idk what to say…
I think 99% of people look up their class guides.
Its 2022.
