See example above me as to why PvP players get a bad rep.
A right? Sure, that’s the ruleset of the server. I wish the ruleset was a bit more fine-grained than it is currently but we work with what we have.
Morally, however, there’s a real person on the other end of that character. They had no chance against you, you just stopped them from doing whatever they were doing and now they have to run back, reset, maybe they can’t even rez without dying a few times to the respawn.
Now, if you were close to their level and you went to Redridge to find some PVP I’d applaud your efforts. You’re taking a risk and finding people who may or may not be able to defeat you. That’s what I consider a good PVPer.
It gets even worse when a gank turns into a grief and people start camping places like Redridge. Yeah, maybe a few other high levels will come out to countergank but that gets tiring real quick. I’ve played that game and you’re putting out fires all around the world. Eventually you want to do your end-game stuff rather than defending Redridge every second of your time. So more and more you have the other faction just taking over an area and there’s little to no counter.
I just acknowledged that it’s 1.5% easier on a pve server.
I’ve leveled 1-60 on both types. Leveling on a pvp server was almost (almost!) as smooth as a pve server.
Not enough of a difference to brag about how much hardcore a pvp server is, because they’re not.
This time, I’m planning on leveling permaflagged on a pve server. The best of both worlds! I can be ganked, but I can’t gank. It will be a bigger challenge, for sure.
I salute you! Have fun in your efforts, I hope you get some epic battles.
That person also made the decision to be on said PvP server (Or flag on PvE servers). They give away all rights to complain about a simple one-shot and gone situation. Does it suck for them? Sure, a little. But it’s on a similar level of some NPC respawning and killing them. Or missing a few attacks and the quest mob their fighting killed them.
Sure, the attacking player can choose not to attack them, but it does nothing morally. They’re on the other team. You don’t see athletes sandbagging games just to make the other teams feel good. In fact, it’s illegal and against rules in most of them.
Arguing about “moral” behavior in a video game predicated on a race war and dragon slaying seems silly. N’est-ce pas?
The name of the game kinda says it all…
It’s okay, they don’t really die, only their pixels. They can rez right up and start playing again. You’re not a “bully” (that word is SO overused) nor is anyone who temporarily deletes your pixels.
You might want to roll a healer, as someone else suggested.
Whatever the amount. It is easier on a PVE server. So PVP’ers feel PVE players have chosen the easy way out. So they have a certain amount of contempt for the choice and the player. You can say it is too similar to matter if you want, but that doesn’t nullify that they know you chose the easy way. Their lack of respect for the PVE player isn’t something you get to void out with argument. They just don’t respect you or your choice.
When the other team losses, I know they are probably talking enough **** to one another; enough to where it doesn’t matter to me that I won.
Some people want the minimal prestige that rolling PVP confers. But they also appear to want the PVP server rules to be just a little different - so they can feel safe when they want it.
It doesn’t work that way. Know yourself. Choose accordingly.
I chose to originally play on a pve server because that is where my friends were playing. It had nothing to do with taking the “easy way out” because I had never played the game before.
I eventually engaged in a LOT of world pvp on that pve server before our guild eventually rerolled on a pvp server. There was almost no difference in leveling difficulty.
It’s all easy, which is why I am rolling permaflagged on a pve server this time.
Guess I hurt your feelings.
It’s okay tough guy. Just understand that if you want the respect of those on a PVP server, roll on a PVP server. That respect isn’t worth dirt, I know and hopefully you do too. But still, there is only one way to get it.
Rolling permaflagged on a PVE server is just trying to get stroked by the carebears around you. You want to look tough. Go for it, nobody cares. But know you are seeking the same sense of toughness that those on PVP servers already have.
I’ll feel guilty if I gank them more than 2 times…
Other than that, no…
I sometimes play with my food… kill them twice, and I move on xD… unless they come back for some more. Typically if they do a /beg… I give them mercy and don’t kill them lol
Sometimes I am in a area… and I want that area for nodes or a quest… then I’ll pvp people to back off and wait for me to be done.

lol you are talking to someone who’s already done all of that so your line of pvp hero BS doesn’t work on me. I know better.
If there wasn’t food, no one could eat.
Players who suffer from anxiety should steer away from most pvp like arena and dueling. Bg’s are ok only because there is safety in numbers.
You’re not a true PvP player then.
The true PvP players are the ones with terrible attitudes in this very thread. That just love to ruin other players’ days and get their jollies being a bully (since they can’t take people on IRL, they bully/harass them in-game.)
Feel good OP, you are not a terrible person like almost all the other PvP players.
Hmmm. Oh this is delicious.

Looks like your attitude isn’t great either:

Well this could be said of those posters(you know the type) who try to take the “moral highground” while posting back handed posts about morality which usually involve projecting, assuming, and a load of speculation that “supports” their moral narrative. All the while only posting inflammatory posts(such as yours) in an attempt to draw others in reacting negatively outside the bounds of the ToS. So they can cyber bully folks by reporting them. That about sum up how the sociopathic hall monitors around here operate? Don’t answer. We all already know.
Most be how those who can’t take on people in real life get their jollies and a sense of power on message forums.
Oh boy im pretty good at this speculation thing. Lol.
@OP. I personally do not feel bad for killing people in game. I once killed every lowbie alliance on that dinosaur island because 3 of them ganked a guildy.
So i made it a point to kill every ally on that island. Regardless of level. Had to make sure I got the right ones. Lol
I’d do it again in half a heart beat. I think it’s cool you have that level of consideration for fellow players. Even enemies. You see the human behind the avatar.
That’s the beauty of sandbox mmo’s you can play how you want to. You want to be known as the enemy who never ganks?Cool. I can dig it. Do you. The rest can sit on an egg. /shrug
Im of a similar mindset
PvP is fun, but getting camped by some higher level isnt fun, and because I have a small % of a soul camping lower levels isnt fun for me either. No challenge, no self respect
