My Idea save Wow for casuals(maybe others )

This is is my attempt to give ideas to help the wow dev team understand what casuals want and how to help us. this thread is not intended to add ideas for raiders or rated pvpers however it does have ideas that can effect both.

here are in no real order the ideas of which i believe can save wow for casuals, as always your free to add your ideas as well.

  1. graphical/asset updates for old zones and items: as you know alot of the old world looks ancient and out of date compared to the rest of the game. so why not slowly change this with each patch doesnt have to be all at once.

  2. Chronological story play through option for players when leveling and even at max level with everything scaled to the player( this can be optional ). as well as the dungeons and raids and the pvp stuff, bringing the player through the games events as they were intended. this as well includes the graphical and asset updates as well as old cinematic updates to look more modern.

  3. More addon integration. we all know how alot of stuff we have now were addons. but there are a ton people use even Role playing addons that can help make the game more intresting. one factor is add family tree page for Role playing, as well as entire role playing tab which includes back story and your actions. this is something that i know alot of players want more in the game.

  4. NPC commentary and acknowledgement of players character deeds ( for the character said deeds were done by) this is something that is needed. our characters names should be said not ā€œchampionā€ or ā€œmawwalkerā€ our characters name which also means we need to have a system that we can have our characters name prounced properly.

  5. end game content. as we all know you need something to do when hit max level. this all goes back to an early point. have all end game content for each expansion optional to do as a max level thing or at its original level. This is really helps as for the gear or reward i will get into that .

  6. gear rewards. we all want gear yeah? so hereā€™s what i believe would help everyone. make it so the content you do the gear you get for that is the best FOR THAT, and isnā€™t out of that. gear earned at certain areas when used is the best for that place. pvp gear best for pvp area gear best for areas. mythic dungeon gear best for mythic dungeons so on so forth. but gear as well for out of those can be earned and should be the best for that. all of this can be done it wont be easy and shouldnt

  7. more classes for older races. blood elves will get druids orcs will get priests humans can be shaman and/or druids so on so so forth. this also requires back story and lore to be added back in or new lore for it.

  8. player housing and guild housing: this is something everyone wants. basically the idea is this we the players build the house we gather the materials. we can go back to old zones or raid, and learn patterns for existing professions to make parts for building the houses. all of which can be updated each expansion as something to do to show off the stuff you have earnt on your characters pets mounts tmog collectables so on. this also can be a thing guilds can have as well. this all of course will require a separate dev team who would add in new stuff such as building styles ( such as differnt race ones you dont have to play as that race)

  9. Add a way in-game that can be lore friendly that can explain everything that has happened in the games lore. this wouldnt have to be in one place but could be all over. and could be something that is updated alot it would be in places like dalaran and such.

Now this is where i pass the idea making for others as well as commentary, i want to hear your ideas to save wow.

More options to share in the work of your main, for example, let out exalted main buy rep for alts as a choice, like rep tokens purchased with gold. By the time I get exalted on a toon, the gear available as an exalted reward is worthless. Some players enjoy alts, but it ends up being a punishment.

I would love some sort of optional linear quest path that takes you as much as reasonably possible through the entirety of the game from the beginning to the present day.

I canā€™t see it being a way to level, as it would simply be too involved. What Iā€™m envisioning would be an optional ā€˜lore journeyā€™ of sorts that players can take at their leisure and which would take an extensive length of time to complete. It would take you through every single zone in the game and give an overall summarized version ofā€¦ everything.

It could be awesome.

Instead of that, Iā€™d actually say with the advent of threads acknowledge the whole ā€˜one soul different formsā€™ of alts and the like, just, merge reps into an account wide gain, not a toon specific thing

That would be fine with me, but some RPers have one rep on a toon that is contradictory to another toon. Bloodsail Buckaneers rep decreases other reps, plus the scryers/aldor.

Perhaps that should be changed some then? One thing to note is thereā€™s justā€¦likeā€¦100ish reps now and itā€™s honestly absurd trying to level any of them that were introduced after vanilla, even just getting the vanilla tabard option for all ā€˜legacyā€™ expansions would be welcome in that regard

For casuals and new players some random things Iā€™d go after:

  • Leveling is still disjointed and new players going through BfAā€™s leveling content really doesnā€™t explain to them anything about what is going on in Shadowlands and very little about the major players in the world.
  • Unless youā€™re getting into high level play, max level largely consists of rapidly gearing up before hitting a wall where youā€™re pretty much not going to be getting much further until the next patch. Right now so much of the endgame is designed to get you into high level play as fast as Humanly possible and it doesnā€™t feel great for casuals. Torghast would have been a good option to expand on what Horrific Visions did, as that is something that a casual player can take at their own pace.
  • Player housing would probably be a really good thing for the collectors in the game, but for the love of the Light do NOT make player housing something that is mandatory as part of an expansion specific system. That was the #1 mistake that Garrisons made(which I still think are a good idea, they just executed it horribly). Just let it be largely about cosmetics and something that spans all expansions.
  • Class fantasy should be focused on again and these borrowed power grind systems redesigned to be something else(I know they want a grind system just to keep players playing). I rolled a Paladin to be a Paladin, not a sparkling Warrior and definitely not a Kyrian or Venthir or whatever.

i agree with you 100% there.

This is semi-doable from Chromie time, but as your states it definietly could be more linear in terms of content.

And yes, this should be entirely optional.

Not what I thought you were suggesting, so Iā€™ll tag what I thought you were going to stay at first glance.

NPC OPTIONAL voice commentary for majority of quests. Also names being pronounced by NPCs will most likely never happen. We will always be called Champion or something along those lines.

Iā€™m unsure or confused by what you mean by this, Iā€™ll be honest.

Gosh noā€¦ :face_vomiting:

good idea on paper, but if your a player that plays all forms of content. Needing to swap gear to do certain kinds of content. Would be a inventory nightmare and overall a headache. Unless additional things were added to appease or make things easier, as it stands now with nothing additional hard pass.

Besides the Belf one, Iā€™m in agreement. Worgen and Goblin monks!

Yes.

There are photos, unsure if they are fan made that possibly suggest Blizzard toying with the idea of player housing.

I made a post about such a thing. It got no traction soā€¦ here.

Okay scratch that, please necro it. :joy: I made it due to a different post, but this also works. :slightly_smiling_face:

Would love opinions on the idea.

basically i meant make all expansions end game be end game for what ever is the current end game is it would require blizzard to stop adding levels each expansion or at least update them. other games do this like swtor final fantasy and such eso so on.

no thanks

m+ gear was never just for m+ it was a mix of both dungeon and raid content.

do you have any idea you think would help fix wow?

honestly? i have no idea anymore.
i havent been playing WoW near as much as others, been around 7 years at this point, and i honestly dont know what more they can change/add to accommodate everyone.

i know there needs to be more world content and just general content for those who donā€™t seriously pvp/raid/do m+ but iā€™m not sure what content to add that wont affect another players playstyle. if that makes sense?

i agree with you on that. i believe it will require all of the playerbase to put what we want in hopes it will be listend to by the devs and will be implimented

I too have often wished for this and I get the feeling itā€™s a bit in the future but eventually weā€™ll see it. Text to voice software is getting better every day. Would also be hilarious to hear the game pronounce the ascii names, maybe it would make them want something more, you know, normal.

I could potentially see a day where the game might even give you a short list of potential pronunciations and you pick the one that sounds the best. I assume by the time Iā€™m old every game will be doing something like that. Then again Iā€™d rather hear my characterā€™s name in the Steven Hawking voice than get called champion or mawwalker one more time, so maybe Iā€™m biased. The fact that they often write my name on screen has actually made me consider shutting voices off, if that was the case everywhere Iā€™d definitely do it but it would only solve like 10% of the problem at best.

there is so much potential for this game, alot of things can be added with each patch we can hope .

Just tossing this out.

Currently, there are 110 zones in the game (!!).

Not saying this wouldnā€™t be an interesting idea, but at 10 quests per zone, thats 1100 quests. Man, that would be a lot of elephant to eat.

perhaps blizzard could add voice acting to all of the old quest for those?

Yes. Iā€™m envisioning a truly massive quest chain ā€“ something unprecedented in its size and scope. I think it would be a wonderful feature and tribute to the game, and something with replay value as well.

this would be entirely optional of corse.
