I told him “no”, but give me some good things to tell him.
tell him sepulcher is hard, it just has a hump to get through before the good parts begin
Are we still talking about raids?
ff14 raids are more fun but not harder
Depends on the fight honestly. Your friend is correct that some FFXIV raids are harder then WoW’s but its also a case-by-case comparison.
Hit em with the ol “no u”.
Never fails.
They are harder than WoW but its more like playing DDR and less like playing a MMO. Basically doing like DDR movements for like 20 min mess up once everyone dies. If you don’t believe me look up Dragonsong Ultimate.
FF14 raids is more into patterns. Less RNG.
Nah FFXIV’s savage raids are way easier, maybe not Ultimates but I haven’t done any of them yet. They are, however, more fun, it’s kinda like a dance with the boss.
You got to compare hardest content to hardest content.
Echo can beat Mythic Jailer but they can’t beat DSU in FFXIV. Like I said its like playing DDR for 20 min fight doesn’t feel like a real fight and what it does is just unfair most of the time and I wouldn’t call it fun.
Different strokes for different folks, while I am not actively raiding anymore, I used to raid heroics which I would compare to savage. My experience raiding in WoW was always either just completely tune off while listening to music and paying attention to DBM/RL call outs during progression or after going on farm just chill with people on Discord while doing the mechanics.
I felt way more engaged in FFXIV raids where I had to actively watch out for my gameplay as to not, as you said, wipe the entire group and even when the group wipes you are already in front of the boss, ready to go. In WoW you gotta run back, wait for everyone to buff up and get ready, etc which is a good 5+ min wasted of raid time.
Also, I am sure Echo could beat DSU if they kept hitting their head against the wall like they did with Jailer.
Tell your friend to stop playing the mmo lite that is 14 and wow. If he wants hard tell him final fantasy 11 is still up. With 21-24 hour rl spawns xp loss and level down on death. And its a reactive mmo were you react that the mob vs it being a memory game. Also 3 years to make legedary weps. I like wow but i find it funny people think this is hard.
As Josh Strife Hayes explained, hardcore MMOs like that do not work because the audience is very small for it. There is nothing “HARD” about that - its tedious and boring. Tedious features are often confused with hard difficulty and they are not the same.
so your mommy… ahh… i say your friend:
there is nothing the raids nerfs As long as there is a single wipe that we repeat until we do well with the raid boss.
I play both, and I can tell you this. FFXIV raid may seem harder for those that don’t know the mechanics. Even with the telegraphs as blatant as they are, easily confuse the unwary player. If you know them, though, they’re really fun. Conversely, I won’t touch anything more than an LFR raid in WoW, just to see the content, even with addons enabled.
Dont know who that is nor do i care. That said ive played that game for 20 years. And if that game was not turning a profit you honestly gonna tell me se would let it stay up? The game isnt hardcore its hard. Unlike wow (for example) instead of having gear that is replaced gear in that game has quest that makes the item level go up . Id love for wow to give us one item that we can make and customise it.
The last fights of Coils of Bahamut are still extremely difficult even to this day if you go in Ilvl Sync’d. A good fraction still hasn’t cleared it!
I dunno if that’s a good thing to tell your friend, though…
Tell him he’s looking very handsome today.
Both are difficult in their own ways.
Consider that TEA is just about as difficult now to get as it was when it launched, whereas once a tier in WoW is out of vogue it’s forgotten about and will probably be soloable by the next expansion.
You have the option to do FF raids at minimum item level as well. If you remember way back in WOTLK when that Chinese guild (STARS? been a while) did Yogg Saron 0 lights in all blue gear? That’s basically what min ilvl challenges are.
IMO FF raiding just offers more challenges and options then current WoW because all FF raids remain relevant evergreen content, while the baseline WoW content starts out harder but is made much easier over time.
If you look at M+ raiding in WoW’s current season compared to FF’s current content then it’s about even, with WoW being, I think, tougher when it launches untuned without the internal testing that Squaresoft does. Conversely after all the nerfs go out and players outgear the content something like Dragonsong remains just as hard as it was when it launched and WoW content becomes much much easier.
But that’s just one Hyur’s opinion.
Apples and oranges.
I hope the people who designed KJ and P3s enjoy stepping on legos every waking moment.
