I end Shadowlands a 3.1k multi-glad ret pumped to try and push rank 1 in solo shuffle and help my friends get glad.
Dragonflight starts and ret is miserable to play, I quit. Ret gets reworked and apparently is insane. I resist the urge to come back and focus on real life. The entire time I have multiple friends constantly telling me to come back because of how insane ret is. I resist.
My RL buddies and I get together for Blizzcon as it’s been our tradition for the last 10 years or so - big mistake. I get hyped to play again and carry on with my original plan.
Ret is no longer god tier which I’m okay with, wouldn’t feel like I earned it if I didn’t have to sweat a bit. Ques are 50 minutes, I lose my patience and decide to gear a healer for instant ques to push r1 on my spare time while I help friends get glad.
I get to around 2200 this season on my healer, absolutely stressed out not having fun at all which makes me realize why no one wants to heal that mode and there are 50 minute ques for dps. I quit trying and want to focus on my main goal of helping friends get gladiator.
Gladiator is impossible to push, we are hardstuck 1800-1900 mmr. All my friends who aren’t glad are healers as I have amazing synergy with one of the homies as ret warrior. They get discouraged and hate the game, I resent the game for hyping me up to come back only to waste my time.
I sell motorcycles for a living, I will barely be playing in the summer as that is not only my busy season but riding motorcycles is far more enjoyable than WoW. Winter was my only time to do these things but since it doesn’t align with Blizzards timeline it is impossible.
I am sad, I feel I have set achievable goals for myself but because of arbitrary deflation I am unable to achieve these goals. My game time expires soon, I will not renew.

Another pvp player down to the blizzard raid boss… we need a petition for everyone to unsub till we get meaningful changes but ppl wont ever do it.

Not technically impossible, but you realize there’s barely any inflation yet, so everyone’s down like 400 points from where they’d wind up end of season.
Which is why I keep saying attaching the rewards to CR is a BAD IDEA for incentives. Most players are not above average players. So why are all the rewards for above average players?

Agreed - not sure why Blizzard doesn’t provide a heck of a lot more rewards for just winning matches at any level. Like: “Win 20 Matches, get this. Win 50, get that.”
You can, of course, give something awesome to folks who finish with high rating too, but there just isn’t enough for casual PVPers to queue for ranked - which makes it very hard on the high end, since Arena’s population is like 75% avid WoW PvPers who’ve been doing this for years. Who are used to - back in the day - getting 2200+ easy… but since every low skill player is pushed out of Arena due to nothing being realistically achievable for them, the game forces a mandatory amount of these high skill players into the low brackets.
If my understanding of the system is correct, more players in the low end participating would mean it’s easier to climb in the high end as it’s incredibly important to have a healthy low skill population to fill up the bracket and take those low spots, allowing better players room on the ladder to actually climb.
As it stands, everyone doing Arena seriously is well above average skill-wise, which means even 1600 matches require skills that, if translated into PvE, would easily put you on par with high end Mythic+s or Mythic Raiders. And the only way you get rewards is to be the best of the best of the best.
That should be Blizz’s focus - get common every day players who have not actually been Glad once - to actually queue up for a match. Only way to do that is to give them a carrot to chase too that isn’t completely pie in the sky.

The point of the post is there’s 0 reason for me to play the game right now, which is a problem.
Yea, wouldn’t you feel better if you could get a cool mog for winning 100 games at any bracket?

Honestly not really. It’d feel like a chore and not a reward.

Basically what I’m seeing is that people aren’t satisfied with the current mmr system and inflation should be higher and start a lot earlier in the season. Otherwise people are just spinning their tires in mud and it feels bad.

Ok what if rewards could be unlocked immediately at a specific rating OR unlocked through a participation mechanic
Now imagine being a 2100 player and you can’t even get the mog rewards.
“Players who normally hit 1800 are stuck at 1400 and below and they are having the worst experience of anyone because they went from getting rewards to getting nothing”
“Blizzard is literally gate keeping the community from having fun”

This is a great idea, honestly, and probably warrants its own standalone post to gain more traction.
Blizzard could even use one of the throwaway trading post mogs (the substandard ones) as an incentive, and that would cause the majority of casual players to queue up to get it. Casuals in this game are basically nothing more than collectors.
They can be though, except for titles and gladiator, which have unique rewards so it’s okay to have additional requirements.
They have those too with seasonal participation mounts and saddles!

Man you know nobody is Qing early season for saddles
Wdym? It’s one of the most popular times to Q for uber casuals because they dont really have to compete ad much with lacking gear.
And thats the population that is gonna grind the saddle as their achievement.
Im all for MORE rewards that promote participation. If thats what youre advocating for then I’m on board! But it’s also disingenuous to act like it doesnt exist and i dont think you should be able to just play 1000 games at 1k cr with a 30% winrate to get an elite set.
before your sub expires make sure you bump up my post
This will be beneficial for all of us who still hold onto the hope that we will not be overlooked.
To those saying that rewards should be via participation I disagree, I don’t want a participation trophy. In season 2 my friends kept telling me how “free” rank 1 was as a ret and it made me not want to come back even more.
With that being said there is no reason at this point of the season I shouldn’t be making progress with my buddies to help them get their first glad. There is no point to play until later in the season with the current system and as an adult with responsibilities I need to be able to do this on my own time.

Participation trophy with arena would be equivalent to the weekly battleground blitz quests which just have you participate in the mode. In other words, you just play and you get it.
What people are suggesting is getting x number of wins to get rewards. That is completely different than just playing. And if you don’t believe me, go look at SWTOR and see what happened when they changed the weekly pvp quest from doing 5 bgs to winning 5 bgs.

Is it? You don’t seem very representative of large numbers of wow players
What happened? I played swtor but idr that change and im a founder lol. Wasnt it like. Bg wins = 2 loss equal 1 participate?
Here’s an example.
