I recently put together a build for a gaming PC using pcpartpicker. I will not be over clocking. I will use this new build to mostly play WoW and Car Mechanic Simulator 2018. I am looking for feedback (updated below).

Edited for clarity
Try this build. Refined it for you.

Gaming wise, Ryzen 5 5600X is better if you can find it with stock. If you are into water cooling, get at least 280mm. Air cooling is better if you are going 240 or less.

If you are not oveclocking than any basic $40 HSF will do. You also don’t need to buy thermal paste as any AiO or HSF comes with it.

The 5600x is the better gaming CPU but your list still left the op’s 3800x selection.

Like prebuilts? Cyberpowerpc has a i7-10700F RTX 3070 8GB DDR4/3000MHz 500GB WD Blue $1399
Monoprice has Skytech Cronos - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 16GB DDR4 3600Mhz, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 8GB, WiFi, 1TB NVME SSD - $1,499.99
The monoprice prob be worth the extra 100.
Prebuilts are probably the way to go right now because supply is jacked, and prices for individual components (outside of storage really) are ridiculously high.

5600X no stock. That’s why its left out.

Thanks for the tips! I have modified my list. The AMD 5600x is out of stock and prices are unavailable. I was thinking more like future proofing which is why I went with the AMD 7 and it was available (even at horrendous pricing).

You are hurting the performance by going DDR4-2666. AMD loves high speed RAM. Go at least DDR4-3200 CL16.

You would be better off with the 3700x as you won’t see the difference in gaming compared to the 3800x if you want to buy a CPU now and not upgrade. Otherwise wait for the 5600x to come into stock as it’s a much better gaming CPU than either of them (or get a ryzen 3100 as a cheap place holder).

Thank you everyone for the very helpful feedback. Very much appreciate your help! I have modified my hardware choices in the link.
Everything looks good. However, I wouldn’t go for such a low wattage PSU. Yes it will be enough, but PSUs last more than 1 build, so getting a low wattage one now even though it’s a high performance one would mean your choices for future upgrades would be very limited. A RM750 or RM750x if its within your price budget.
I made some more revisions. Specifically the CPU, the case and the sound card. I decided to ditch the mid-size case and go with a full-size for several reasons.
Will I really, 100% need the sound card since the motherboard already has built-in sound?
I welcome any feedback, negative and positive!

Thank you! I did not know this. I have since modified the RAM to DDR4-3600

Drop the sound card, no need for it like you suspected.
Optional:
You don’t have to buy thermal paste as the AIO comes with some pre-applied, but if you want to buy some for a just in case I’d buy noctua’s paste or thermal grizzly. Roughly same price and a bit better.
I’d recommend a motherboard with wifi
For example the asus b550 tuf w/ wifi.

Thank you! I have dropped the thermal paste and the sound card. My modem and router both sit atop a shelf on my desk which is why I did not go with wi-fi. A simple 5ft cable did the trick for me
However, the other devices (laptop, Roku’s etc) are wi-fi.
Do you recommend another CPU and GPU? Or will the ones I have chosen work well with the rest of the hardware?

Not really. Like another user mention in this post. Every now and then you’ll find a Pre-built pc for a decent price.
CPU: You can go for Intel depending on current sales price, but you’d have to swap to a z490 board. If you wanted another option incase AMD isn’t available or something along the line of that.
GPU: I’d go for a gtx 1660 super or rx 5600xt. Those should hold you over until newer gpus become readily available.

I see your original objective of playing the car mechanic sim and WoW but your PC is rather “unique” set up.
I’m not sure of your monitor so I’m going off 1080p 60hz
You already stated the 3800x is overpriced so why invest more money in old tech? Frankly from a ROI perspective it’s not a great CPU even at MSRP as the 3700x gives you similar performance for less and neither CPU should be near MSRP at this time.
That graph card will have the biggest impact on your gaming and the RX 570 was $110 last year. You want to pay double for it? The GTX 1660 super would be a much better investment.
The power supply is over priced and over kill. A 550w unit will easily power everything mentioned in this thread. Even if you went with something like the RTX 3070 you can power it with a 650w unit and in my experience (decades not just building one or two gaming PCs and declaring myself an expert) builders stay within their tier for upgrades. People rarely jump from a $200 GPU to a $800+ GPU a year or two down the line. They jump replace their previous GPU with the latest and greatest GPU in the similar price range.

Thank you – when it comes to GPU’s, I have no clue about them so I do appreciate the helpful feedback!
My objective remains the same: to play WoW and CMS. As far as the word unique that you mentioned… I’m not entirely sure what you’re objective is with this word? Maybe it’s my choice of hardware? I’m obviously not the best at picking out hardware which is why I asked for help here. However, I do very much appreciate everyone’s help.
You asked about my monitor. I have ASUS VE278Q 27" Full HD 1920 x 1080
Newegg Item # N82E16824236103
I purchased from Newegg back in 2015 and I honestly see no reason to purchase a new one. Unless you can convince me otherwise ![:man_shrugging:t2: :man_shrugging:t2:](https://d38bqls1q93fod.cloudfront.net/en/wow/images/emoji/twitter/man_shrugging/2.png?v=12)
Correct and this is my assumption: Supply vs Demand is raising the prices. ie: Supply is going down, Demand going up which prices are skyrocketing. I will go with the 3700x as you suggest.
Again, I’m a moron when it comes to GPU’s. No, I do not want to pay double for it so I do appreciate the feedback given here. I am trying to avoid purchasing an older GPU when something better is out for a better price. Again, thanks for your help on this.
On the topic of PSU, after comparing 3 of them (550W, 650W and the 750W) I have chosen the 550W per your recommendation. Thank you.
