My Account was hacked and all my gold is missing now

I use the authenticator for years, but the hacker in someway got on my account and made a ticket and told to the gm to disable the authenticator, now I am missing all my gold. The GM answered the Hacker ticket with 2 hours (when I was sleeping so I couldn’t reject the authenticator message) now is over 9 hours since I made a ticket trying to get my gold back and still no response

Unfortunately that likely means they had way to much information on you and your account, but now that you have a ticket in you likely will have to really prove this account is yours.

Do you have a ticket# by chance? A mod could check, but this forum itself does not bypass ticket queues.

I do the ticket the hacker made was number US100345622, he didn’t specify any account information in the ticket he made, only things you can easily find if you enter the settings tab on your account, like the last 2 digits of your phone number.
I have re-opened the ticket he used telling It’s was not me who asked for “removing the authenticator”

That ticket is open, Merigold. And yes, they have more of your information than anyone else should have.

Yeah I know they do, but all the information they gave in the ticket was easily found in the settings tab battle.net. They wrote my number like this (*********** Number1 and Number2) also they used my current battle tag not my previous one when it was asked and the purchased he verified is find on account settings too if you go to your recent purchases.
I mean why have an authenticator if someone can just copypaste the information inside the app to remove the authenticator?

My secret question was never asked, and he didn’t answered any specific questions related to the games I played in my account,

I think maybe your computer is being watched and you gotta… you know, wipe your computer
and change your battlenet password from your phone(if you wanna play it safe)

I never had this happened to me, so I’m a bit spitballing this; they don’t ask the question mainly because it’d be assume it’s you with being on the account. It’d be more when someone is asking to gain control the account like if they forgot the email address and such.

Also, I’d check to see if your email was broken into as well.

I couldn’t login using my email today, I used my phone number to login in the blizzard website and chaged all my information the hacker had changed to my emails and changed the password of the blizzard account and said emails. I will probably wipe my computer when I resolve this issue

that’s wild oh deer :deer:

I’ve changed all my passwords today in the long 9hours wait time for the blizzard response

I’d would recommend in future:

  • Changing password often. Usually every 3 months is best.
  • Having a strong Anti-Virus and doing full clean scans regularly.
  • Checking each and every app on the computer often to make sure nothing is on there that you don’t want or know. (This includes apps also on the phone)

Have you searched your machine for any illicit software? Did you add an authenticator to your e-mail address?

The fact that they were able to get into your email is not good.

It’s unfortunate that they had enough info on you to be able to get the authenticator removed too :frowning:

Please please make sure to secure everything so that they are not able to simply get back in again.

I searched for illicit software and resulted in nothing (I’m using malwarebytes premium)
I don’t know how they got into my email, but today I activated the 2fa on phone there too, also my other email that I use to verify my first email never got any message about someone trying to enter my first email.

I’d also recommend a brand new email account, maybe something like GMAIL with 2 form factor sign in, and a password that is not used anywhere else. It seems odd they had this much access, but it can happen if your login is used other places.

What you should do and this is just a suggestion, is bring up something important, like your banks website Put in a false login name and password but do not hit enter and then scan your system.

A lot of times, malware will hide to avoid detection unless something important like that is opened.

I also saw you say you changed your passwords. If you did that on the system you use to play WoW, you’re going to want to change them again on a different system; otherwise, they’ll just get your information again.
