My Account has been banned and have read the email now and this is not true

i dont even know what that is

AH addon.

Wouldn’t have triggered anything because blizzard specifically allows addons that run within the limits of their provided sandbox.

after alot of readin and youtube videos there have been quite a few people some of which are streamers who have been banned for unknowing reasons with the same reason that was shown in my email so it hasnt just been me

The reason shown is very vague by design - so what you are actioned for may not be the exact same thing others have been actioned for.

You don’t need to know how to “hack” if you download a program that does it for you even for other games. If you are innocent then take it up with the ticket system nothing can be done on the forums.

Of course you are not the only one this has happened to as Blizzard catches millions of people cheating/exploiting within the game. False positives happen but you have to keep putting in tickets for that fresh set of eyes to take a look.

Do you happen to use an Intel 13900k or a 14900k?

I do not follow much tech news but came across a Gamers Nexus video on Youtube that mentions the problem with those CPU’s can cause the game client to not match the server client and cause false bans. It comes up at 21:50 into the video. They do not mention any games and this may not affect WoW in any way but it got my attention when he mentioned it.

Do you do any work/school/etc on that pc that might require extra software?

Just curious which is it really though?

You did say in GD that you do occasionally swear in game and that is small enough for this to happen if somoene saw and reported.

It just seems really off that you have two versions of this story going around with two different versions of why it could have happened.

Not here to say it did or didn’t happen but your posts on the matter come of a bit sus with different stories.

Actually you could.
There were several times I had to call before I took a break in MoP.

You could in fact call them, would take awhile to get through but you could.

Now it’s almost non exsistant becasue of people who abused it.

Just because you could do it, does not mean you should have done it for appeals. Not saying you did, but others did and it led to a mistaken idea that people could call and argue about account actions. That is one of the reasons it no longer exists. People would call for things that were supposed to be handled via tickets, via bug reports, via suggestions or feedback on the forums, etc.

Have you changed any hardware recently? What kind of mouse and keyboard do you use? I remember diablo 4 not playing nice with razer software so maybe something auto installed or something that is getting flagged by blizzard.

Some keyboards and mouse have software that can automate gameplay. It’s not against ToS to have that software on your computer but if you use it to make macros that that the in-game macro UI doesn’t allow, that is against the rules.

Yeah, that’s considered automation.

I dont remember which MMO it was (I know it wasnt WoW).
But my brother was perma banned from a game due to the keyboard he had
at the time. It was a keyboard that had “cheats” pre programed into it.
He didnt put them there. The keyboard came out of the box with these
cheats in it. The games systems detected the keyboard and decided it
was a illegal cheat device. He was banned and his account was closed.

Kinda surprised there is no blue reply here yet. Usually they come relatively quick, and with additional info about what the person in question did to warrant the ban…

You won’t be banned for using an addon, or for the Curse client that lets you manage those addons. Were you running an accessibility, or ease-of-access, program along side WoW?

The anti-cheat used for WoW (Warden) is fairly primitive by today’s standards, and uses a simple blacklist for programs. It will simply flag you if such a program on that list is running at the same time as WoW-- And there are quite a few accessibility programs on that list which have been used for botting (cheating) in the past.

Blues tend to offer more information if its a a language penalty or they will say this has been extensively reviewed and findings are correct penalty will stand. They wont give infor on what caused it.

I am glad you were able to find the email Blizzard sent with the account action category. That is always helpful so that you at least have an idea what it was. This category is related to cheating and exploitation so Blizzard will not tell you exactly what software or exploit was detected. Sadly the people who make, sell, and use such things would love that info to help avoid bans so nobody else gets it either.

I can give you some general types of things that fall into the Unauthorized Cheat Program category. Some are obvious, and some may not be.

  • Botting: This is software that fully automates gameplay letting you do something else. There are many types of bots but the most common are for farming materials, farming mobs for gold, spamming chat with advertisements.
  • Automation: This is usually software that is not a full “bot” in that it is not hands off just running everything for you. It is when someone automates some portion of their gameplay, often with them sitting right there. Most commonly they automate some portion of a class skill rotation to use when fighting mobs or raiding. It can be done many ways such as making macros using keyboard or mouse software. It can also be done using programs like Autohotkey.
  • Multiboxing using software or hardware to facilitate: Multiboxing is allowed, but the software that can facilitate it (cloning keystrokes between clients) is not allowed. It has to be done totally manually.
  • Any changing of game files such as audio files, image files, or textures.
  • Programs that move or teleport a character around a map.
  • Any other program that touches game files, game network communications, or gives the player an unfair advantage.

What you were doing when you were penalized is not likely the cause. Investigations into cheating software are usually done over time and the penalties handed out in a big ban wave. It could be something you did weeks ago.

If your account was compromised, those are usually criminal groups that use it to farm gold, advertise, sell gold, etc. All things that get an account closed. If you think your account was compromised be sure to put in a compromise ticket! You would note that you have chars you never made, are missing gold/items, etc. They usually strip the account, then bot/spam with it until it gets banned.

Hope that helps give you some insight into the Unauthorized Cheating/hacks category.
