MVP Grievances

Mods: If this isn’t the appropriate forum for this, please move it to the correct one.

Is there a formal process available for regular forum users to request the review of an “MVP”? I have particular concerns about one who is generally abrasive and borderline-trolling, but am unaware on how to address it, and at this point I have a hard time reading green text from a neutral point-of-view.

You can find the email for feedback on MVPs in the sticky above, but I’ll post it here too for you:

Wowcmfeedback@blizzard.com

And yes, you can definitely report green posts too. We have to follow the same code of conduct as all other players when posting too

You would report the thread like any other thread. If they are breaking the rules like any other poster it would get to the appropriate people in charge of the forums.

Thank you!

The problem with reporting posts is that one can easily not violate forum rules but still present a very bad look for a group in general. It’s something that needs explained in a greater context than a single post, if that makes sense.

I totally understand that. We see folks toeing the line all the time, though even that may be considered trolling depending on the situation.

I can only speak for our CS/Tech MVP program, that while we do not require anyone in the MVP program to be light and sunshine at all times, they were selected for their positive contributions to the community. With that in mind, we do ask that they try to set an example in how to best communicate with their fellow players and us.

To be honest, if this is the case, then it’s going to fall more on you to change your perspective. If they are following the Code of Conduct, then maybe you are taking what they say way out of context. I’m not saying the Forum CoC “can’t possibly” have loopholes in it, or that people can’t have bad days, etc. Just that whenever these kind of complaints come up (“they aren’t breaking the rules, BUT…”), it’s usually some kind of disagreement or not liking their style.

And while I’m not in the MVP program, I can imagine that their posts are seen and scrutinized a little heavier than other player’s posts.

Let me just point out:

  • Disagreeing, even vehemently, isn’t trolling. That includes being the one dissenting voice in a thread full of opposing views.
  • Criticizing aspects of the game isn’t against any rules. Constructive criticism is the way to go, but it’s not required.
  • Being generally abrasive is not against the rules.
  • “Borderline trolling” is like “almost speeding.” Either you’ve broken a rule or you haven’t. I’m afraid “borderline trolling” is just this side of the line of acceptability; hence the term “borderline.”

I see your recent interactions with greens (anyone can) and I see nothing where the green crossed any line or did anything against the CoC. As to whether the MVP’s writing style adhered to

is up for subjective debate, but they certainly didn’t do anything against the rules. To be fair, I’d say they held up nicely considering the vitriol that was being thrown back at them (not necessarily by you) for having an opposing, unpopular view in that thread.

I mean, it’s generally up to the folks that run their MVP program.

I’m not commenting on any particular posts, I haven’t reviewed any and have no idea what thread or MVP is being referred to (nor do I need to).

With all due respect Breakbeat, I didn’t come here asking for people to evaluate inapplicable situations from their point-of-view, I simply came here for a method of seeking Blizzard’s review of x y and z.

Perl gave me a rapid response and that’s the end of it. My question was answered, and was done so quickly and concisely.

Thanks Perl! Also thanks Vrakthris for the additional clarification provided.
