Muted for doing zombie event

You do understand you agree to an agreement while playing, and game sabotage is a bannable offense.

its intentionally sabotaging gameplay to bomb the auction house
its intentionally sabotaging gameplay to run in low level zones and kill players
its intentionally sabotaging gameplay to infect people who are waiting at banks/flightmasters/battleground masters
where do you draw the line? either its all ok or none of it is.
Blizzard brought the event back because they decided all of this is acceptable.

i dont see anywhere posted that you aren’t allowed to become a zombie in a raid or battleground. what difference does it make being a zombie in open world or instanced?
but seeing your tank turn into a zombie while tanking brutallus would be hilarious

But more relevant, I don’t think anyone should be squelched for this, but if 30 ppl report you for intentionally sabotaging a BG, it makes sense it happens.

Oh sorry should have clarified in my case it wasn’t in a bg, I was running around orgrimmar just living my best zombie life.

Oh, then I hope everyone who reported you gets a suspension.

Their system isn’t automated so a GM had to determine it was against the rules

Squelches are automated, just not bans

On the opposite side of the coin people have been threatening to report me for cleansing them, and accusing me of ruining prepatch fun. Your side has its carebears as well

any player who false reports needs to be banned. and for much longer than the event lasts.

The whole event is sabotage.

Are you crying this hard about the rest of the invasion?

Blizzard has admitted that right-click player reports can automatically mute people for dozens of posts over the years. They even announced the automatic mute in this post when they introduced it in May of 2007:

Man, you really got 'em with this! People need to stop conflating automatic chat mutes with automatic BANS, which do not exist from right-click player reports. Bans and chat mutes aren’t comparable. Chat mutes don’t stop bots from playing the game, bans do. If we could ban bots with our reports, we’d have self-policing communities. Look at the fervor that players are reporting people in AV with, or this event. Are you claiming that players just don’t report the bots, cause what, they like to complain about them ten thousand times on the forums but are too lazy to report them? What’s your excuse here?

I think this is the beauty of the event! You can pick what side you want to be. I was a jedi when this event went live originally and worked to hold back the horde. This time around I wanted to try to be more sith-like. I don’t get mad when someone kills me, or dispels my infection, I just try harder to come up with more creative ways to be a zombie.

I went and tried to infect coldridge last night and got maybe 2 minutes in as a zombie when a 70 pally showed up, killed me, then cleansed everything. Like, that’s some response time! I was impressed, and whispered them to tell them so.

I don’t get why folks need to rage as hard as they are, just have some fun with the event.

That said, abusing the reporting functionality to punish folks for just playing the event as intended should absolutely be met with a Blizzard response. Blizzard is obviously struggling with player abuse of their reporting systems though. We had the AV ban wave last week, but it’s been an ongoing issue (especially in PvP) for Classic.

Interestingly, I’ve heard of very few abuse report issues on the retail front. Maybe a few boots by guilds running a time walking dungeon and deliberately being jerks but that’s it. Not sure what it is about Classic players that makes this so much more of a thing.

I think you went overboard and beyond just biting people

We just saw half of the classic population get banned for not playing AVs,… what do you think will happen for people who do this.

Kids in classic really haven’t developed whatever it is that lets them use common sense.

If people didn’t get in the way of Arthas culling Stratholme. He’s have stopped this from happening.

As a death knight I tried to infect all the alliance at the city BG NPCs, which themselves are immune to plague, apparently. I haven’t been suspended yet. This would be stupid enough for them to do it though. I’ve never once been hit for anything logical. It’s always stupid crap with useless support afterwards. The appeal process is 100% window dressing because they will never do anything, no matter how stupid the sanction is. They just respond with, “it’s been reviewed, we’re not doing anything,” basically, “we don’t care.” If any human actually looked at the suspensions, many would need to be reversed because they were placed by dumb or downright abusive staff. But as it stands, the staff are allowed to play god with accounts and there is nothing to stop em. It’s like V For Vendetta. They just black bag you if they want and you’re gone.

half? kek, thats rich

People have low coping skills these days, it’s really sad.

How long are you muted for?
