To all my fellow Jrpg players, Metaphor: ReFantazio finally launched the other day and it’s going to be the game of the year!
I’m about 16 hours in and it’s amazing.

Overrated game.
Game was mid.
Your opinions are bad and you should feel bad.
(Metaphor does look awesome though, I’m not super into Persona mechanics so that’s holding me back a little bit but it looks like it changed enough that I’ll be interested in it. A little tragic that it released right after the turn-based game sale, though, I don’t really need another new JRPG right now.)

If we going old school jrpgs then Suikoden 2 beats them all.
Yea Metaphor goes away from the persona thing enough for me, I HATED the school aspect of persona, I literally dropped out of high school in 11th grade you really think I wanna play a jrpg that has me going to class and taking exams?
It’s worth the buy, but if you got other games you going thru you can wait but it’s not going to go on sale anytime soon, I’m sure it makes the Jrpg of the year list.

Suikoden 2 is definitely an amazing game but it’s #3 for me. (Chrono Trigger, FF6, Suikoden 2, Skies of Arcadia are top 4.)

Also to note and I forgot to put this in OP, Metaphor has a demo on steam you can download and play for free.
I played it for 12 hours because I kind of went nuts grinding because the game was that good.
The demo itself is about 4 hours or so and it takes you up to the first dungeon in the game Catacombs, it lets you do it and then the demo ends.
So I went and camped into the side quest dungeon for hours.
Also everything you do in the demo gets FULLY TRANSFERED to the live game if you buy it.
Is Retail considered a JRPG? Probably not, but I’m checking out survival. Not a fan of Retail MM feel really.

Yes it’s done by the same creator.
It has some differences though which I like about it.
I’m currently hooked on it.
For example one of the better changes is no more school

I like the way it looks but I’m not really into graphics I prefer gameplay over how it looks.
But I think it looks fine.
I’m playing on steam.
I played the hell out of the demo like 15 hours
