Murky and Classic WoW

simple answer is classic =/= vanilla because it’s not exactly the same

I just disagree with that notion entirely.

Who does it hurt if the few players with the original CE pets, or Murky have access to them in a version of WoW where both existed already for that account? Does it really bother you if someone has a pet you don’t?

There’s no where on the original Murky pet where it says bound to this particular version of WoW… it just says unlocks the pet for WoW. So again, i ask, why not? Who does this negatively affect?

It’s a positive for classic, and it can’t ever really replicate vanilla without those pets. It won’t be vanilla for me entirely without Murky, and there’s ZERO reason why he shouldn’t be allowed on those accounts with the unlock already.

If you can give me a simple reason why not besides “Because no”, ill accept it but i’ve yet to hear a logical argument against something so harmless and that doesn’t change classic experience in any way shape or form. Enhances it, really.

This pet is bound to a character. That character is not in Classic and cannot be in classic because there are no character copies into classic. We are all starting over.

the pets are bound to account, but i could live with the middle ground of “Only on one character” if that’s the path blizz took with it.

Again, why not? Who does it hurt if those pets are on the accounts with them already? I’ll never have the CE pets, but those with them should keep them for classic as classic is SUPPOSED to be a replica of vanilla, and taking harmless pets away hurts the experience rather than enhance it.

It doesn’t hurt a single person if those pets were in classic as they are already part of the code and already tied to the accounts by code; so why the heck not?

There is no reason at all why not besides “because no” and that’s unsatisfactory.

And for the record, my murky card (i still have it) does NOT say only one character, and it doesn’t list a particular version of WoW. Just says i unlock murky for WoW. You could very well make a case that it includes Classic as well, as he was part of classic.

Go to retail. Log onto an alt that does not currently have your pet, try to use the card and see what happens.

that’s impossible in live due to the way the pet tab works now (alt will start with him, grunty, and all my other pets)

While i get what you’re saying, the card was already used by me and i still have the card so if need be ill go to the vendor in classic and try the hard way lol (what have i got to lose?)

I just feel like this would be such a harmless (non) addition to classic. It hurts no one, would only drive up interest in classic, and it’s a win/win for all involved.

I’m not here asking for Grunty or pets from WoW’s future to be put in the game; just that WoW’s past allowed to exist as it was.

I just feel like the CE pets and Murky should be allowed, otherwise it’s just wasted code in the classic game. Besides, if i could say that it negatively affects my classic experience to not have my classic pet with me… does it hurt or help classic wow to take those away?

there’s no reason at all why not, IMO

Exactly, just go to the vendor and try it. See what happens. It may surprise everyone here and work. Personally I doubt that the Classic dev team is worrying one iota about how to handle 15 year old promotion items, so likely it won’t work.

I believe that CE pets (and by associoation, Murky, IMO) were specifically addressed in the blue posts in that “please reconsider…” thread.

Murky was mentioned in that thread, although I do not recall that Blue specifically mentioning Murky by name.
