Multiple battle.net accounts

I’ve searched and read everything I could find on this. I have two different battle.net accounts. In game, it is telling me i need to secure my second account with the authenticator. However, I cannot add a second account to my authenticator and THis https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/24122#:~:text=The%20Battle.net%20Mobile%20Authenticator,be%20attached%20to%20one%20account Tells confirms I can only attach one account to the authenticator. So, I tried to add a phone number to my second account, but it tells me I can only use the same phone number on one account.

So I can’t add both to the authenticator, I cannot use the same phone number for both, AND according to this article https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/2627 I cannot merge them into a single battle.net account. What the heck am I supposed to do? This is insane.

It depends on why you have 2 different Battle.net accounts.

You can have up to 8 (I think) WoW licenses per Battle.net accounts.

If you only play WoW, you could move a WoW license from one to another, keeping in mind everything doesn’t transfer.

so my only choice is to lose hard earned mounts, achievements, etc? that’s absolutely crazy.

Not even that I’m afraid as we are not longer moving licenses outside of very specific reasons.

You’d need another phone number to cover a second account - at least how things stand at the moment.

are you serious? why on earth would blizzard make it impossible for you to have two accounts that were already created? so i’m just boned at this point?

It’s not impossible, you’d just need another number, Adelsia.

That has changed back and forth over the years. At the moment at least, it’s one unique to a specific Battlenet.

Thank you. I’m sure you can imagine I’m unlikely to go out and pay for a second phone number just so I can authenticate a game account. I’ll just cancel the sub.

Thank you for the clarification.

Just a side note; you’re not “required” to add an authenticator to your account. They’re just a great additional level of security.

It’s worth a note that somehow, both of my Battle.net accounts are attached to my phone authenticator. Both accounts have the Core Hound Pup pet.

Now, how I managed to do that? I have no idea. I don’t know if it was grandfathered in from an older version of the app, but my second Bnet account doesn’t have my phone number on it (because I, like most people, just have the one phone number), and when I need to verify my second account it doesn’t pop on my phone automatically, I have to do the “Manual Code” thing.

But they’re both on there. I don’t know if that’s enough of an authenticator attachment on the second Bnet to do something like post custom text to group finder though, I’ve never tried.

Highest likelihood.

Authenticator has only relatively recently started requiring a phone number, and could be used on up to three Blizzard accounts at least as far back as Legion before the changes started taking effect.
