Are they though?
I’ve been playing since WotLK and I could count on my fingers how many times I’ve run into multiboxers.
It seems to me like they are choosing money over trying to fix a non-issue.

But it’s not. You guys are looking at this the wrong way.
The multiboxing software is external to the game so what is it Blizzard is supposed to ban? You’re allowed to buy as many WoW licenses as you want so are you saying Blizzard needs to stop people from having more than one account?
Holy tinfoil hat.
So much angst about something that affects almost nobody.
Because it totally takes skill to one-shot someone with 10 hunters.
No, what blizzard needs to do is stop allowing accounts to be controlled the same way multiboxers are. Multiboxing is one step shy of botting or scripting. The only reason that its not is because one account needs to be manually controlled. But the rest of them are fully automatic, and that is the problem and the way to fix it.
I’m pretty sure that individual was talking about mat farming, not PvP.
No, it’s not. That you feel the need to say this indicates you don’t understand the difference.
Again… you need to learn what multiboxing is.
Why? It affects almost nobody.
No, this is completely wrong and not how multiboxing works. Like I said, the software is external to the game and it can not run by itself.
OP you might want to hit the dead horse one more time just to make sure it’s dead.
But they’re not, theyre all manually controlled
Lol
I am well aware what multiboxing is. It is a program that allows separate instances to copy the input from a primary instance. Only the primary instance is being controlled while the others are mimicking them. The primary instance is normal, but the secondary instances are all automatic. They may not do things completely on their own and require input to the primary instance, and that is why it is technically not botting or scripting, but the nature of it being semi automatic like it is is what makes it “one step shy of botting or scripting”.
If you are going to break down what I say and tell me that I am wrong, prove me wrong.
You have no clue how MBing works. Nothing is automated or scripted. Key presses are broadcast to multiple windows. That’s it.
I think we’d be better off banning people who post about multiboxers.
“Broadcasted” to multiple instances, copied from a singular instance, same thing. Its shady AF and needs to stop.
It’s not about it “technically not being botting or scripting”. It literally is NOT botting or scripting.
The program in question for multiboxing simply pushes your input to all active instances of the program. Nothing is automated at all, you’re simply controlling more than one instance of the same program with the various benefits and downsides that that has in terms of controlling things.
You understand how it works, yet can’t understand how it isn’t botting or scripting, which are two entirely different things from simply having one keystroke applied to multiple instances of a program?
No. Inputs aren’t copied from one instance of WoW to others. The program copies any input and distributes it to all active instances.
Hence the difference. Players use one character as the “brain” of the box, but it’s not just all other instances copying that instance’s inputs. Blizzard only cares if there is more than one action per keystroke, which is where the difference lies.
I quit multiboxing becuase Blizzard removed /follow in BGs and that was the best place to do it was in Alterac valley.
How many rank one multiboxers are there? How many arena master multiboxers are there?
How many Cutting Edge or AOTC or BM or Khan or Bloodthirsty or any sort o title holder multiboxers are there? Thats right. ZERO. becuase they are not that OP. Any equal sized force will beat even the most skilled multiboxers 100% of the time as it is mechanically impossible to do the job of 5 people with one person.
If Blizzard actually brought back /follow and made it to where ONLY players of the same battlenet account could follow in a battleground or arena, then I would resub my entire raid group again. But with follow removed and the ABP taken out as well. Ther’res just no use.
I haven’t boosted a single toon since they announced they were never going to bring it back. No players unsubbed when they had Multiboxing. Players only unsubbed when it was cancelled and unsubbed all of my accounts. I used to cap out on wow tokens everytime possible and boosted over 3 dozen toons twice once for each expansion pack that I bought. And that was not even half of the money that I spent on them as I faction changed them, race changed them a few times. And all the companies have now quit making the software for them so… no point. I still to this day cannot see why they removed something that brought money to the game big time. I quit and I only play one toon mainly now, my warrior. And my pally and thats it really. Apart from alts that I level.
by the OPs logic then mages and DKs are guilty of mutilboxing since the minions they conjure up “mirror image and AOTD” are considering cheating since they are not directly controlled by the player they attack independently without waiting for input from the player that created them
Ever try to befriend a multi-boxer?
It could be very beneficial.
