Multiboxing - NEW TOS

kinda funny to see the no-life multi-boxers proclaim that blizz only banned software to control all our characters with one key press so we find another way. what you fail to realize is that, with the ban, blizz is effectively saying that controlling multiple characters with one key press is auomation of the game and is against how we want the game to be played. so, when you guys find other ways to get around it…they will ban that also. they don’t want the control of multiple characters to be automated into a single key press. you will waste a buinch of time and money just to show them exactly what else they need to ban

i understand your concerns but it was tradition in my family that my parents taught me about right from wrong , and al of us in my family got their first shot gun at age 10 on their birthday, for hunting game and putting food on the table at age 13 we got our first rifle for bigger game , its simple it all starts at home , sadly its just not that way anymore,

It’s incredible how people can read the exact same bit of text and come to wildly different conclusions.

Farewell and best wishes!

aren’t you thankful?

Blizzard is actually doing the right thing here ---- They refunded all accounts for the expansion. Goodbye and you guys don’t forget your towels.

Also, information from one of the emails:

Just to clarify, however, multiboxing per se is still permitted (as in playing on multiple accounts/characters at the same time), you just cannot use third party programs (input broadcasting software) to give you an advantage.

If there’s anything else we can help you with, please do not hesitate and ask!

Thank you for reaching out to us, NAME REMOVED, and I hope to see you braving the Shadowlands sometime in the future! Briardtur out! o7

Why would we need towels when you’re helping Blizz clean the game up without us?

Eh do some research on your own. There are other programs besides ISboxer. Honestly these threads are pointless. It is their game and they have been very transparent on the subject, they just have not enforced certain programs and now they are.

I wouldn’t call an announcement changing the rules right then and there with no “heads up” very “transparent.” They could have announced they were doing this at the start of Shadowlands months ago before everyone bought up the expansion on all their accounts.

Automation has always been against the TOS. Blizz simply let this slide under the radar until the boxers decided to help make a bad expansion even worse.

1 key press = 1 action, there was never any automation. Bots do that, and they’re not going to be affected by this, as they already violate the TOS, and will continue to do so.

Turning 1 keypress into [insert number of clients here] actions is precisely a form of automation.

Software Multiplexing is not automation, as it’s virtually the exact same thing as pressing the same key on 5 keyboards at the same time (which can be done, it’s how people multiboxed before there was software multiplexers, there’s pictures out there, google is your friend). Automation would be me pressing a key and it doing multiple “automated” or “scripted” actions. A lot of the newer gaming keyboards come closer to doing true automation than any of the multiboxing software ever allowed for.

Is also not software.

I updated my post to be more “specific” for you. But to be clear there is

  1. Software Multiplexing (ISBoxer, etc., 1 Keypress is VIRTUALLY via Software replicated to multiple game clients)
  2. Hardware Multiplexing (KVM, 1 physical key comes in, multiple physical key presses go out to multiple game clients (multiple PC’s or multiple VM’s), all in HARDWARE outside the computer)
  3. Multiple Keyboards (1 Keyboard per Game Client (multiple PC’s or multiple VM’s))

Now at the moment, Blizzard only modified their TOS to ban #1.

And of course there are a few more methods.

  1. alt-tabbing between the game clients. Works fine for simple tasks like mining, herbing, questing, etc. But it’s really basically 1 character playing, and the others on follow, as it’s not very effective to alt-tab and press a key, repeat.
  2. People have come up with some creative ways to expand on the alt-tab method by launching multiple game clients, arranging them in small windows on their desktop, and using a built in windows feature where window focus is automatically switched to whatever window you hover over (it’s a registry setting change I believe). That way they can have say 5 windows open, and by moving their mouse around quickly and hitting a key when the mouse is over each window they can get closer to the first 3.

As for the rest of the tools required such as invite, follow, loot, etc. Those have always existed as addons in wow, never requiring external tools.

It’s cool there are even more ways than you have listed.

Also, I agree they only specified broadcast software.

Now I’m curious what I missed, I tried to list every conceivable method I’ve heard about / seen pop-up since the change.
