Yep. It was a pain, which is why multi-boxing was much rarer back then.
My point was more so technologically the processes are the same.
You can’t really tell the difference between them unless you can view the persons programs and setup.
That’s why I find “multi/boxing should be banned threads” hilarious because it is literally impossible to enforce.

Blizzard has even stated that the systems in place cannot differentiate between those that multibox and households with multiple users using the same connection.

Unless you’re actually cheating, there’s no “wrong” way to play the game.

Riiight, that’s why we can’t even edit models on our side or texture packs etc… Literally actionable if you mess with that.
Also you could call the exponential farm/gold gains “cheating”. In other games addons could be considered cheating, blizz decides what is and what isn’t.
Congratulations on wasting GM time that could be better spent on actual problems.

Because that’s against the rules. Which makes it cheating.

Yep. It’s actually illegal for a program to “spy” on your pc. That’s the only tangible way you can tell the difference.

Warden does check what processes are running, but they are quite specific. Blizzard is quite mum on the whole thing and that is just based on conjecture.
I believe it can only check programs that are utilizing wow specifically.
Which is different then than looking at open programs.
Fairly certain what warden can see if very very specific (otherwise they’d run against UN privacy laws)
Could be wrong, not an expert. I just know it’s a very touchy subject.
It’s not illegal if we agree too it, and if you have wow installed, and you have launched it, and you have accepted the terms and conditions of it’s usage…
You agreed to it.
UN laws would disagree.
Unless they use a different warden depending on the nationality (I guess that a possibility).
It has been said it also checks for memory injection routines as some exploits do that.
if you can cite them… maybe.
but I don’t believe there’s a single law out there preventing a company from protecting the integrity of it’s own products.
If they do it behind your back, without consent…
Sure.
But we gave consent, and if you read the terms and conditions as we’re meant too, it’s stated quite clearly, it’s not hidden, it’s not done in a malicious fashion or with malign intent.
It’s a practice done in most all industries now.
There’s no way 80% of the modern world is breaking that many laws or it would be far, far bigger news.
The UN has some of the strictest privacy laws on the book. You have to be VERY specific with what data you will access and how you will use it.
Maybe that doesn’t apply, not an expert.
Well, the best chocolate cookies do have a bit of vanilla in them. It enhances the depth of the chocolate.
Also, multi-boxing is still fine.

—we can access everything is not specific,
It is entirely specific.
They told you in no uncertain, clear terms in fully understandable language.
you have the choice of saying yes, or no to it.
Exactly. WoW can not scan outside of its own process.
That is specific and hence why it’s allowed
All through the town as the driver heads to the entrance to the dark cavern where the children will be shuffled off to the Pleasure Island before being sold off as wee donkeys (some of whom may make waffles for breakfast).
Yes, I had a lot of caffeine.
