My Guild doesn’t use DKP but instead MS/OS +1 rule because we don’t have enough to get 40 people and have to get people in other small guilds to join in raid.
Easy to say not to pug when you are in big guild tho I guess
So merge guilds with another small guild so you have enough people???
All of your friends are still together in the guild and now you have more friends to actually do content with. There is no reason to have a guild so small you cant raid with it without pugging.
Personal loot is a vastly superior loot system. Just because it wasn’t in classic it doesn’t mean it was bad. (And no, I’m not suggesting it go anywhere near classic rofl)
personal loot is probably the worst thing they ever could have added to the game after LFR. Part of working and progressing as a team is divying up the rewards fairly. PL just shovels it off to whoever regardless of the impact it can have on a raid group.
Depends how quick you rotate members of your raid.
If you keep a consistent roster gearing won’t be that bad, realistically yout main spec is geared way quicker than theirs.
Whilst you may have trouble rolling on things like brutality blade etc against Rogues/dps warrior etc, those very same dps have to roll against them as well just to get their MS gear.
You can’t hope for prio on your MS tank gear and then also gear for your OS over other dps who still obviously haven’t got their MS pieces yet.
That’s just kinda selfish tbh.
Probably the most cancerous thing in the game is people divying up the rewards unfairly. Which almost always happens everywhere that its possible.
This is why you have to stack your group appropriately just to lower this chance. Vanilla loot system might be one of the worst loot systems to have ever existed in ANY MMO in history if you don’t include the F2P MMOs that lock their loot behind randomly dropped lockboxes that require real money to open.
Help the lower level members of your guild get to 60, attuned and some pre raid gear farmed so you can have a full roster of 40 members from the same guild. If you have level 58+ players that are priests/druids they can come along as healers/decurse/dispell bots if you are short in that department. If you have returning players for multiple weeks and they are the only member of a guild that joined, maybe see if they want to join yours.
Sure running BRD/DM and BRS gets old after a while, but the faster you get a roster to 60 then you can start using DKP or your preferred loot distribution. When you do a pug raid, the loot someone outside the guild gets doesn’t contribute to your progression, especially if they don’t come back next week, which allows you to clear the raids faster so you aren’t sitting in MC for 5 hours.
Try and line up a guild run on a certain day, and make it a goal to get as many people to 60 and geared prior to that day so you can fill less pug spots. Say raid day is saturday or sunday. The sunday before, put up a guild announcement for gear farming during the week after a certain time of day. Then when that time comes post in guild chat saying “farming BRD tonight for pre-raid gear, pst for inv” Then just go as long as you can, and try and bring the 52+ players with to get them closer to 60 while gearing them. When you have a player that has all the gear they need from BRD or has to leave, then have them leave and get another to take their place. Try and get as many quests done as possible as well, the high level quests really help speed the leveling and most quest bosses drop BiS/BiS alternative loot.
If you just put an announcement in guild chat that says something like “ask for help farming gear and getting attuned” most people won’t ask. But if you offer you are more likely to get people to join. Wow is a social game, but there is also some players who might be low to mid 50s and don’t want to ask the 60s for help and are relying on pugs that usually just end up wasting their time.
I think you can do the onyxia attunement on horde side in a 10 man raid the entire time. Get as many people that need to do it, and get it done. One person will need the seal of ascension, if they have it let them lead it. If no one has the seal of ascension, then farm one for a dedicated guild member.
I agree that loot system is quite annoying, especially if you get one guy who gets lucky and wins a need and a greed roll and he’s not even in your guild.
I would say the first part of the system isnt bad, but the tanks shouldnt be rolling for off spec for their main spec stuff. It makes sense for the tanks to be waiting for brutality blade until all dpsers have theirs, they should however take priority over off spec on weapons.
The system itself doesn’t have much wrong with it.
Legitimately the best thing Blizzard ever did for the game tbh.
Sped up raid times, and lowered loot drama by such a huge factor. No more 15 minutes of back and forth after each boss of nerds arguing who should get what. No more 1 hour complaint sessions after raid about loot. Raids get done faster, and with less complaining than ever with PL.
If you don’t like these loot rules, don’t run with these groups.
No, it seems better to not Tank or Heal as a PuG in these groups. These aren’t the only loot rules people apply and I’ve seen far wackier and contrived rules that end up throwing gear all over the place.
If you don’t like the items flatly denied to you, don’t go to reserve loot groups.
If you don’t like the possibility of being barred from rolling at all on multiple desired drops, don’t go to limited roll groups.
If you don’t like having to spend tons of gold to have a chance at getting an item you want, don’t go to GDKP groups.
If you don’t like having to roll against off specs or hybrid classes, don’t go to free-to-roll groups.
If you have crippling trust issues, don’t go to ML groups.
Yeah since im dps warrior this is the perfect system for me but I thought I would just point out how it’s actually an unfair system which takes advantage of tanks
No you are being silly. Tanks get to roll first on tank loot, dps get to roll first on dps loot. One person doesn’t get wildly geared because of Rng rolls. This system is better than Ms>os and whatever system you are proposing where you simply get to roll on everything.
Do you think all the dps and heals should be able to roll on tank loot?
Here’s a big issue with MS>OS that I’ve seen happen time and time again. You gear tanks up, they stop showing up to raid after a while because they burn out having to pay large repair bills week after week while knowing they will not see any loot any time soon. Or, they leave to join another more advanced guild that promises them access to more loot etc.
Then you get stuck in the cycle of having to constantly gear new tanks because the old ones left/went inactive.
At some point you have to decide on a reasonable time to allow them access to the fun gear too. You can’t expect anyone to keep showing up 4-6 months later knowing the whole time they have no chance to get anything.
