As the title says, been playing WoW since Vanilla, but I am now going to be relocating to the EU. From my understanding, I will either need to continue to play on NA servers (which means raiding/playing during NA times) or I have to start an entrely new account which means…
- Lose All mounts - Including Rare / Limited Edition ones
- Lose All Pets - Including Rare / Limited Edition ones
- Lose all allied races
- Lose all pathfinding / flying
Is this accurate, or will I maintain any of it? To be honest, 1 and 2 I don’t mind so much… it is what it is… but 3 and 4 will destroy my soul to start 100% from scratch.
There’s a few mounts, and maybe some pets that might show up on a eu license. In essence though, EU and US wow licenses are essentially different games, and not much is shared between them.
You can trial a EU license to check it out in advance. You can even have both regions on the same battle net account.

When I started my EU account I had around 6 mounts and 3 pets that appeared. They are mainly associated with other games. Like the Hearthsteed mount from Hearthstone. The others might have been from BlizzCon.
Yes. You need to redo Allied Races and Pathfinding. It’s not as bad as it used to be. I did WoD, Legion, and BfA Pathfinding on both licenses before they were removed.
You can play your NA account from EU, but ping would depend on where you are moving to and which data center your NA characters are.
I’m in Nova Scotia, Canada. I get a ping around 50 to the East Coast realms and 100 to the West Coast ones. I get a ping around 110-120 playing the English realms in EU.
Make a trial EU account to see what mounts/pets you retain. Battlepets will be level 1, so you would need to relevel them.

While you can have both EU and NA WoW licenses on a NA battle.net account, account bound items, except for a very few items, cannons be shared across different regional licenses on the batttle.net account.
Looks pretty much correct. But I can give some info on playing on US servers from the EU.
- Ping is highly dependant on your internet connection. At times I have a better ping between the EU and my server than someone in the US itself and that same server.
- There are guilds on US servers that raid on EU (and AU/NZ) friendly times, but you’d still be looking at 23:00 to 03:00 times usually. Some can go earlier, depends on the morning crowd on the server.
- To help your framerate during raids, prune your addon list to the absolute minimum you need. Use an ingame addon manager, like BetterAddonList.
- Forget any use of the cash-to-gold tokens. Last time I checked, Blizzard refuses to allow it. Something legal/bank related IIRC. Gametime Cards same deal, EU ones won’t work. (never tried US ones since I can’t buy them here.)
- When ordering physical copies of games, make absolutely sure you are getting the correct version. E.g. Amazon EU stores automatically default to giving a local copy.
