Why not, they do it in M+, get people used to running full content before they get loot, that will 100% fix the issue with people leaving, because putting a deserter is just terrible. There is always someone somewhere who has to leave and it has nothing to do with killing X boss and leaving. And there are always those groups that for your sanity it is best to leave.
No doubt if we just move loot to the end it will mean someone is going to 3 man premake a dungeon and vote kick the 2 others out without refilling just before the last boss dies so they can get a higher chance at loot, so we need to also change the vote kick rules to stop people abusing that function to remove players and give themselves a higher chance at loot.
We need to change the loot and change how vote kicking works to ensure people stop leaving and stop abusing the game to allow everyone an equal chance to get loot.
Fact is this, we all join a dungeon and risk running into a group that does not play the way we want. We all want our own way to run a dungeon, but it rarely ever works out in LFG and we all have to face the risk of joining a group that just doesn’t go as well as you want it, we just have to deal with it if we want loot.
Unless they change it. Mythic I think only awards 3 items per run. They could make it so when you kill a boss you are tagged for an item but you can’t actually get it until the end of the run in a chest.
I’d suggest Blizzard requires us all to submit a driver’s license, social security card and banking information. If we leave a dungeon after killing the only boss we’re there for, a team of trained Blizzard agents is immediately dispatched to our home in a black van, legally allowed to break down our door, use non-lethal restraints, and bring us to an undisclosed black site for “reeducation” regarding the social contract.
i thought about this. this situation would not fix your leaver problem. if someone was going to bail, then they are going to do it as soon as they knew they weren’t getting their desired item.
No just pump out the entire dungeons worth of loot for a normal, heroic and M0 at the end, don’t change the amount of loot, just change where the players get it.
But the main issue now is that people run to boss X and leave, if they move the loot to the end and you leave before, you get nothing. Sure someone will leave, someone will come in to replace them and see the boss they want is dead and instantly leave, but you would lower the amount of people who leave after a boss is killed and therefore lower the amount of people who come in to replace them.
Let’s be honest, actually finishing a dungeon does not take long at all, it’s not some 3 hour raid time that we are committed to, it’s like, 20-30 minutes at most and that’s when you start doing M0 runs, normal and heroic dungeons can be done in like 10 minutes.
How would you suggest Blizzard do this with the potential for a revolving door of players in a single dungeon? With M+, you can’t replace a member after the key starts, meaning the game can and does mail loot to players who leave/are removed after the key starts if the rest of the group manages to complete the key.
But in a queued mode, if someone leaves or is kicked, who is eligible for the loot? The person who left/was kicked can have loot mailed to them and the replacement is eligible for nothing? If the person who left/was kicked can’t get loot, what’s to stop groups from kicking PUGs in order to cycle in a buddy for a loot chance at the very end?
I see no reason why the loot can’t be moved to the last boss. It solves all the leaver issues that seem to be the norm with new expacs. Just make it so that the chest at the end only drops loot for players that actually participated in a boss kill such that it pulls from that particular bosses loot table. This solves the obvious exploit of dipping in and out without participating but trying to be eligible for loot regardless.
If someone leaves, no loot, too bad so sad you left you get nothing, good day sir.
And the person who replaces them? They get loot chances from the bosses they kill.
Yes, the person coming in mid-way might leave if they see the boss they want is dead, but if you tell those who leave that they get nothing it would at least stop many of those who leave from leaving to begin with. It will stop some from ever joining, but would you rather a slower dungeon fill and a full run, or a fast fill and a high risk of seeing someone leave?
They could even extend this to M+ and disable loot for players who leave. Most runs won’t ever complete anyway if someone leaves, but if you take away their loot chances they for sure won’t leave. Again it will also stop some from joining and people will be pickier, but at least it’s something to stop those who join low keys being eligible for loot.
Again the VTK system will first need to be changed, because otherwise it’s ripe for abuse.
You keep handwaving this part with no details, and then demand the loot system changes be made that would depend on this part.
Back up for a moment and talk about how, exactly, you want the votekick rules changed to magically “ensure no abuse”. Because without that step, moving all the loot to the end ain’t gonna fly, as others have already explained. So let’s talk about this pre-req part first instead of just repeating “move all the loot” over and over.
Good idea, but what happens when people figure out it’s fun to boot randos for no reason right before the end boss? Seems like a huuuge way to mess with someone’s day.
Yeh unfortunately I have no details on how this can be done and didn’t want to open a can of worms with a bad idea. Point is though that if you leave the VTK system and move loot to the end, worse things will happen then a player leaving.
The only idea I can think off is to make it like the report system, with enough votes to kick someone out, they eventually hit a wall and get kicked out. But that also can be abused, 3 man groups going in over and over just VTK anyone not in their group, eventually said person will end up being kicked.
Then the fightback will happen, players will join a dungeon and just VTK the four other people and eventually those players will end up getting enough marks and be kicked and now you end up in a situation that out of spite people are just vote kicking others for no reason.
