Now it is consistently happening to me when I enter the Zskera vaults
Blizzard. please fix this issue, itâs so annoying when it happen and i have to restart wow client
This is really good info, thanks for sharing!
I tested this myself and the MouseNoRepositioning cvar does make the cursor change into the 4-way arrow cursor when itâs enabled. You can log in and use the command /console MouseNoRepositioning 1
to enable it, then hold down left click or right click to move the camera to see the cursor.
It would definitely be odd if something was changing this cvar randomly for users while playing, without any input.
I did some further digging and found that our QA team tried to reproduce this based off the video clip from the Reddit, but they were unable to reproduce it. Thatâs part of the problem here, itâs difficult to try and fix something when thereâs no reliable way to get it to happen and it doesnât happen to everyone.
Thanks for the responses to the questions asked earlier. Just trying to look for any similarities between users that are experiencing this, in order to narrow it down further.
For those that are still experiencing the cursor change randomly, does anyone have the Parsec software installed?
Youâre very welcome!
Thatâs the challenging and frustrating part about this from my end. I have not experienced this issue personally, so I can only âemulateâ it by messing around with cvars, and I can only offer suggestions to try to look into.
Since we, as end users, donât have access to the code in its entirety (from what I gather), Iâm not sure how much someone who is more well versed can help out with this. From what I can recall, we only have access to certain API that allows us to write addons and such, but correct me if Iâm wrong. So, since people will be relying on those who have full access to the source code (you folks over at Blizz ), I figured I could at least try to point out any odd things Iâve noticed or thought of. You never know what might help, right?
I hope you guys can fix this soon. Good luck!
~Bearly
P.S.: It fills me with confidence and reassurance to hear that youâre keeping an eye on things and keeping us posted. You guys are doing better as far as communication. Thank you!
Heres to hopin we can find a fix fof it.
This has been happening to me starting approx. 2-3 weeks ago. I had not experienced this behavior previously. The conditions that cause this do not appear to be consistent for me, but I have noticed that the following steps are more likely than not to cause it for me:
Setup:
2 monitors, primary monitor on left, secondary monitor on right. Game is running on primary monitor. Fullscreen (windowed), cursor NOT locked to window. Iâm using a Razer Deathadder v2 mouse.
Repro Steps:
- Have your character actively moving while holding left and right buttons down to engage movement forward.
- While still holding left and right buttons, move mouse to the second monitor, then immediately move back to the primary monitor.
- Observe that the cursor now displays a âcrossed arrowâ icon when holding left and right buttons.
I think this may also need to be done quickly, as this often happens to me while moving âfranticallyâ, as in the case of a Mythic+ dungeon. This behavior is not consistent. Running the previously mentioned â/console MouseNoRepositioning 1â does not fix the âcrossed arrowsâ issue. â/reloaduiâ does not fix the issue. The only âfixâ is to completely restart the game.
Hope this helps get the issue resolved.
I donât have Parsec installed (I didnât even know what it was until I looked it up just now). Although I donât know if âexperiencing the cursor change randomlyâ applies to me; as I said earlier, it happens to me 100% of the time from the moment I enter the world, on all characters. The MouseNoRepositioning
cvar doesnât seem to change anything, no matter what value I set it to. If I set it to any value, and print it out later, it always shows what I set it to, so itâs not being changed.
If it helps, I opened the game console (/console enable) and looked at the various mouse-related cvars. The two that are interesting are MouseNoRepositioning
and MouseUseLazyRepositioning
. I tried all four combinations of 0 and 1 for both values, to no avail.
No random parsec software just buggy blizzard games. Had this just happen on an alt when doing my Draenor garrison horde side killing Grons and planting flags by trees for Gazlow.
I tried testing this but I was unable to get it to happen. When you hold left and right mouse buttons to run forward, the cursor locks in place and isnât able to move to the second monitor. At least this is how it worked for me, the cursor disappeared and I could not get it to show up behind the game on the second monitor.
Locking in place should be the intended way the cursor behaves when right or left clicking to turn the camera, or when holding both to move forward. So if your cursor is able to move around behind the game and move to a different monitor (even with lock cursor to window) then something else is going on.
If you havenât already I would recommend submitting a support ticket. Make sure to include DXDIAG / MSINFO files so our Technical Specialists can dig in further to try and find out what may be causing this. When submitting a ticket I recommend linking to this thread and providing as much detail as possible as well as previous steps attempted. The more info we can collect the better, so we can get this figured out for everyone.
Just had this happen on another alt. Talked to Chromie, Asked to do pandaria, Get the quest âAll Aboardâ to secure a flight to Hellscreamâs fist.
In flight I hold both the left and right mouse buttons about where the blizz launcher might be in the background window and I am getting the 4 way arrow before I land on the blimp to complete the quest. No windows were moved in the usage of the 4way arrow cursor. Just that the cursor is no longer locked to the windowed screen.
Huh⌠Interesting. So, are you saying you donât have the launcher minimized in the background while playing?
Is it possible that the launcher may or may not be interfering with/stealing mouse input? Who else has their launcher up while playing (not minimized to the taskbar or bottom of the screen)?
I myself keep the launcher minimized. (window is closed, with just the icon on the taskbar).
~Bearly
try closing the launcher before you logon (kill any blizzard services that run when Battle.net Launcher is open like agent.exe - not needed when the game is running) if it still turns into the 4 way arrow then it must be something on the server side
Ok, I can reproduce the problem and even have video that show whatâs going on. First log into the game and wait about ten seconds for it to finish loading. Once loaded, press and hold the right mouse button and look around then you can release it. Then press and hold the left mouse button and look around then you can release it as well. This wakes the game up to the mouse buttons, if I didnât do this sometimes it didnât break. Once you have done that hold both mouse button and move either left or right fast enough that it would cause the mouse to move off the screen. This will cause the error.
I have two videos as well one showing what you see in game when you press the buttons and it locks your cursor. A second video from Teamviewer showing what Windows detected the mouse is doing. You can see in the second video that there is a frame in wow that is keeping the mouse locked in a square around that character. Cycling from one side of the frame to the other. While both mouse buttons are clicked, and if you move the mouse faster enough to get it outside that frame and off the WOW window is will come back with the move cursor error.
First video as shown from the computer playing wow
Second video shows what the cursor as actually doing
I have the same issue too, its made trying to wing shred in PVP impossible as my turn suddenly stops as the 4-way hits the edge.
Yep, this is exactly how it happens to me as well.
I had been playing with the âLock Cursor to Windowâ option on and it didnât have any effect. The issue still happens whether it is selected or not
Also I somewhat notice that it possibly happens mostly when I am holding down the right mouse button and moving/turning my character that way. Though I havenât really been able to pinpoint what exactly I am doing since it just happens randomly with both 30 mins in between the problem happening and 5 days since last time it happened.
EDIT: I have been able to reproduce the issue doing what Thugn was doing. I just hold both mouse buttons down and movie my mouse from side to side as fast as I can with as wide of a âstrokeâ as I can and the issue seems to happen consistently doing this.
The issue happens at about 0:35 in the video
this has been happening to me for 2 weeks atleast, it started in classic, then i bought df and it didnt happen after hours and hours of gameplay, now its starting to do it in DF as well, starting a fresh WoW with no addons doesnt solve the problem either, seems to only happen while playing WoW as well
what mouse do yall use, im using a deathadder
I want to also add that when this happens normally, it is not always when Iâm turning with the mouse or anything like that. It recently happened today randomly just while I was fishing, then after restarting client I tabbed out and back in and it happened.
So it isnât necessarily happening because I am holding down the left or right mouse button to move my camera/character
maybe something in the patch 10.0.7 made addons change something in Config.wtf and or Cvars ⌠i do not have this problem so i donât know how to do any testing
