So, I’ve been saying for years now that M+ needs cooler mounts that are on par in the “badass looking” department as the mounts you get from PvP (particularly saddles) and mythic raids even if it means you had to achieve something like 3500 io to get them. I’ve even provided ideas for mounts (New idea for customizable mounts).
But having just watched the interview Paul Kubit did with Taliesin and Evitel and his remarks about not wanting to put too many unique mounts out there because collectors would complain they couldn’t get them. Well, tough ____. There’s always going to be rewards that people can’t get because they aren’t good enough at one type of content or another. I personally will never be able to get any PvP saddle mounts because I suck at PvP and that’s fine.
But after years of M+ players getting the shaft on cool mounts and now hearing the argument about collectors it’s just frankly insulting. Even the Keystone Myth mounts are a slap in the face because they’re just old KSM mounts (frankly, very easy achievement mounts for M+ players especially these days) and recolors. It just smacks of laziness to me. Back in DF the KSM mounts were GROUND mounts, a break from all other KSM mounts which were flying mounts, and the rationale given by Blizz was, “Oh well, you know, you’ll be able to use these mounts in keys where you can mount because they’re ground mounts”. As if you also couldn’t just use flying mounts on the ground. Another just plainly lazy excuse (as I said at the time).
A lot of people who have been involved with M+ for any mount of time, particularly if you’ve been doing it since the start, have always felt that Blizz hates M+ (fairly or not). Whether it’s mounts, the rewards, the item levels of those rewards, or something else. While changes have been made to address the issue of item levels lately (the latter half of TWW) and with the changes to how the track system works in Midnight, we’re still waiting on the issue of mounts to be addressed.
So, Blizz, please stop treating M+ like the redheaded stepchild of WoW and make it truly on par with the other highest level competitive systems of the game.
