You can’t look at it with the perspective that after a certain number of tries, you will get it. The RNG doesn’t work that way. You could get it first or potentially never. You may end up disappointed if you set an artificial time to have it.
I have gotten extremely rare mounts after fewer than 50 attempts and then had to kill a rare spawn for an achievement item that was a 30% drop rate, nearly 100 times.
RNG does whatever it wants. Lol

It’s random. Anywhere from first try to I’ve been farming this for months to years on multiple characters and will probably die before it drops.
This ^^ Rng is a heartless witch sometimes.
I got Ashes of Alar on the first drop but it took me over a year of un-nerfed eggs and a month of nerfed eggs to get the green proto-drake, and that’s not really a rare mount.

If you keep going eventually you will get it. This always works for me.

It will seem even longer if you can only attempt once a week. Your best bet is to just make alts with the strict minimum that enables soloing whatever you want to solo. My current goal is to get Legion instances mounts. So far I’ve only got Gul’dan mythic mount. But Midnight, Gul’dan (not mythic), Worm, Charhound and Argus mounts still elude me… sigh.
I only need 13 mounts for the 500 achieve.

Ashes took me over a year.
The value I get for a 1% drop at 1000 attempts is way higher. 99.99995% which means you have to go up to 2million players before your expected value is even 1 person.
99.95% is at 755 runs.

It could be 99.9% drop rate and you could be the 0.01% missing it for years…welcome to RNG…its a timesink design for most cosmetics in this game.

Well back in like 2014 or so, I decided to start farming ICC for Invincible and got it on my first run… At the same time I started farming Ulduar for Mimiron’s Head, and I still haven’t gotten that to drop…

I got Invincible on the 7th! I felt really lucky.
Then some time later i talked a school friend into playing wow and when he got to max lvl i told him to run Icecrown… maybe the mount drops.

I ran the Valentine’s Day boss maximum number of attempts according to how many eligible characters I had every year except this year when I was unsubscribed. That dang rocket still eludes me.
… Meanwhile my [Bleep]er [Bleep]ing sister got it the first year (back when you had to roll for it).
I hate that mount so much I doubt I’ll even use it once I finally get it out of principle. XD

I’ve been casually trying for that mount for as many years as it’s been available. I’m up to probably… 1000 kills maybe more? I never kept track. I’m not even a dedicated attempter… some people try 50 characters a week and have never seen it. It all depends on RNG and how lucky you are.

I’m starting to feel that way about Huolon’s mount and all of my friends who have gotten it two and three times and I still don’t have it.

I’ll state again - as I have in another thread - we probably do need bad-luck protection at this point.
It was fun when there were like half a dozen mounts, but now there are a ton of raid/dungeon drop mounts, and that 500 mount achieve is probably impossible without at least a few.
Maybe keep some iconic ones low? Like maybe the outdoor world bosses? Idk, I’m even fine with them being shown this treatment, tbh.
But the raid ones should be on like a steady increasing chance after 50 or 100 attempts. There is no reason for someone to have to slog through an old raid 1,000+ times just because RNG hates them.

I got Rivendare’s mount on accident when farming cloth from Stratholme. And I had not done much if anything in there before. Heck, I don’t think I even KNEW a mount might drop. On the other hand, I have killed the Lich King SOOOOOO many times and no Midnight.

There was a time I ran 11 characters through ICC every week for months. Then on and off with various characters. It took 10 years, but that horse finally dropped.
But on the other hand, I got the phoenix on my first try. RNG is just that, random.

Agree, RNG is sweet torture. I have farmed Invincible so many times on multiple alts each week it never dropped, but on one night the Dino from ToT and the dragon from Mogushan dropped. In one week all my BMAH boxes dropped mounts but in months none.
No, we don’t need it, you and others just want it.
We only need one flying mount because it can go 310% flying and 100% ground. Mounts are cosmetic and collecting them are completely optional.
