Oh, I get knocked off my them all the time, 2 AOEs clear a pack, then we’re off again. It’s a slight hindrance that you can deal with, not an insurmountable barrier.
I think we’re diving towards the heart of the problem for you folk though; you play this game on some sort of semi-comatose auto-pilot, getting bent out of shape whenever there is some slight wrinkle to your routine. We saw this in the Great Portal Debacle as well, when a handful of people took 5,000 posts to complain about an extra minute of travel time.
It’s people like me who are tired of having to use a stupid bug looking mount to walk on water.
Personally, if they just let us fly at max level and not go through almost a full year without flying then I wouldn’t care if they left the water stride as the only soloable water-walking mount.
And the product of that is they will greatly inflate in price and the use for its original purpose will be greatly reduced. None of this is an accident. Anyone who thinks this mount equipment is a good thing, wait until 9.0 when you CAN’T USE ANY OF IT until you can craft new ones, buy new ones, or do some achievement to unlock it.
Of all the speculation about this and people assuming this is another method for them to control things, their silence is deafening.
Moving the goalposts now? Went from, “go around” to “it’s not so bad!”
here we go…
More condescending presumptions. Hey, Maybe we don’t like getting dismounted by a critter for the 1,000 time when doing the daily emissary? Maybe we’d like to farm our mats without being dismounted every other node only to face the combat bug that leaves us stuck in combat for several minutes?
They are in no way, shape or for removing WW from the shaman, or PoF from DKs. There are people in this thread that are extremely bitter about a 7-year-old mount, and are doing their best disinfo campaign possible to take everyone down with them.
You highlighted an edge case of fast-moving, underwater NPCs in a river, I responded with my observation. Sorry that that gave you a
Source? Your contention is no less preposterous than the concerns of others that this is a very real potentiality – especially given Blizzard’s record with pruning.
Painting something that is being implemented in a fantastically ridiculous way as some sort of QOL is both laziness and pettiness to the extreme. Expecting quality work from a team to which I pay money monthly is not entitlement.
You claimed that things are obsoleted at the end of every expansion and they were 7 years too late on this and that it’s no different than artifacts or gems.
Then presented with alternative items, you move the goal posts to deflect from the lunacy of your original claim.
Then you try to say others are crying, entitled, and tin foil hat wearers. Kind of sad you have label others instead of attacking the merit of their claim.
Water Strider was OP and it got a justified nerf while keeping the idea of waterwalking intact. I don’t see the big deal with this system at all and honestly, it’s a welcome change for me personally.
So mount equipment is useless then, equip water walking, use barding and goblin gliders or use anti daze equipment and use potions and goblin gliders and mount equipment can be completely forgotten about. Yep making a whole useless system instead making a boat float or make a few new water walking mounts was genius. typical Blizzard pissing off about half of the player base instead of making a mount. If this is true then the only reason mount equipment was made is to destroy the water strider and make the work the owners put in for it trivial. Thanks Blizzard
Hmm my bad, I thought you would get it for all characters.
I took a look at WoWHead’s post about this, and it says:
“T&E announced that if you have a Water Strider on 8.2’s launch, you will get a free [Inflatable Mount Shoes] item which lets all your mounts walk on water. In addition, if you head to the vendor where you bought a Water Strider, you’ll be able to buy more of this item for a greatly reduced price as an advantage for those who already have the Water Strider.”
Looking at the comments in the Angler’s Water Striders page, someone said it costs 40g. Not sure if this value is the reduced cost, but still a very low cost to pay.
Of course, buying 60 of those for 40 gold is kind of lame, but if you have 60 characters below level 100 it is very unlikely that you play all of them…
As many have reported, the item is labeled “unique,” meaning you can only have one of them. That means going from the vendor to the mailbox multiple times, for multiple alts.
I agree that this is a lame job to do. But still, if you have 60+ characters below level 100, that means you rarely play them.
So when you do play, simply take 10 minutes to buy and mail the item, instead of spending 2 hours buying and mailing to alts you almost never play.
Yea, for most specs it’s not really much of a change. DK and Shaman benefit from this though as they can choose perma barding or glider (or, well, just glider for Blood) since they have water walking covered.
This could change next expac though if they don’t add new temporary barding.
