If something wasn’t given to you and you had to work for it, that’s called “earning”…
SOME folks haven’t.
You do realize that the ONLY time you can get MoP rep tokens is during MoP timewalking, correct?
What are YOU talking about? It isn’t gatekeeping to say that people asking for more were not asking for less. The poster(probably you. who even knows anymore around this looney bin anymore) tried to equate the two and it’s bs.
Next you will say that because people said they hate the pruning that it means they want to buy more abilities from the store for real cash.
More water walking mounts meant: “we want more water walking mounts.”
NOT: “we want you to nerf the only water walking mount we have and give us a system that large mounts cant use because they cant get above the water when mounting in water, and we have to LOSE the choice of antidaze AND gliders.”
In your mind, you think 1+1=6 in this case apparently. It’s not “gatekeeping.” It’s rejecting a false dichotomy. There were other better options and the players were not asking for this crappy system as was claimed.
This game already caters to the spoiled/entitled player and actually over catered to them. Those that did something that took months to earn it have a right to complain if they’re going to give it away for little to no effort. This isn’t one of those cases though, you still have to farm the anglers rep for water walking mount equipment, the argument here is people want it to strictly be unique to the water strider which I highly disagree that it should be.
The only entitlement is from people who refuse to try earning that mount because they’re too damn LAZY and want free stuff.
The option to water walk was ALWAYS available to EVERYONE. It’s called the water-walking potion.
Sure, but only if you put value to it. I put 0 value into fishing dailies for a mount, especially when it’s 2 that just has you /afk fish. It’s no mage tower weapon. For me, in order to “earn” something it has to have challenge to it…a serious difficulty that doesnt have me /afk fish.
I’m not sure that you fully understand the meaning of the word “entitlement”.
That 2012 Cadilac I bought in 2012 may not be sold in 2019 for the same price, but General Motors didn’t come to my house and remove the rubber tires, replacing them with stone triangles and expect me to be okay with it.
I have done [x] and paid [y] and I expect to be able to keep what I paid for. They can have their new and shiny 2019 Cadillac (mount equipment) but my 2012 model should still work the way it was intended when it was built (water strider).
Bad analogies are bad.
Yup. But it comes around quick enough that I personally wouldn’t choose to grind the rep. I don’t need WW that bad. To each their own though.
The time it took me to do those dailies, and the thought that went into remembering to do them, have value to me. The “doing” of anything in WoW has no real value other than time spent.
My time is pretty darn valuable to me. Yours may not be to you, and that’s all you. But mine most definitely is to me.
And I think it is safe to reject the claim that this system is a case of blizzard giving the players something they want or asked for. Since when does THAT ever happen?
Their admitted reasoning was not even to satisfy players. Their main reasoning was, “mount diversity(lol).” What it comes down to is that they weren’t catering to anyone but themselves in the process of catering to stockholders that believe their bs metrics.
Am I the only one who finds this extremely lame?
I agree. Depreciation is the take away. Your analogy is some kind of weird repossession claim? I’m not sure who did your financing.
I say that because instead of waiting what, 1-2 months or more to be able to get the rep tokens, it’s far faster to just do the original grind.
Tbh if you’re going to replace your mount equipment per zone you’re a moron, thrown on water walking/slow fall/anti daze, you don’t need to be swapping back and forth just to justify you buying a wow token. It’s not like they’re forcing you to use the equipment, I’m sure you could go through the same zones without using any.
No one has taken your water strider away. You’re mad that someone is paying [x-1] for [y 2.0]. That’s envy. Since you get [y 2.0] as well and are still mad, that’s entitlement.
So then this new system leaves choosing between an inferior mode of water walking/gliding OR having none of them. Boy, that sure sounds like an upgrade! /s
Thanks for reminding me!!!
I mean you could always log into forums and whine about it and hope after the next expansion it changes or you could think logically on how to use the system and suck it up.
Here’s the thing though… Not many (exactly zero that I’ve personally seen) people who want the Water Strider(s) to stay true to their name, and original implementation, actually have any issue with WW being available to anyone on any mount they choose.
We (those of us who want the Water Striders to stay as they are today) generally let folks know this, and that there has always been an option to not use the Striders at all.
We (read above to see what goes here) are perfectly fine with equipment, and most think it’s a nice addition.
Our beef isn’t the Water Strider not being unique, as you say (it’s never been unique as WW has always been available on any mount)… Our beef is that the Striders don’t need to have cinder blocks tied to their feet in order to allow for the implementation of mount equipment.
Also… Think about what Blizzard really wants with this. They tried to end WW on mounts all together a while back; they were going to change the Striders to only work in Pandaria (Azure) and Draenor (Crimson) but there was too much backlash.
This gives them what they want if, and only if, players don’t use the floatie shoes and choose a different piece of equipment.
I will not give them what they want. I have already retired every ground mount and have only the Strider on my bars. Tomorrow, I will use my one free set of floatie shoes, and go to buy (begrudgingly) all of my alts their set, and fix my Stider’s feet so they work properly. I will never look at the equipment again. And I will never use a ground mount other than the Strider again.
And I hope my fellow “brothers (and sisters) in arms” who earned their Striders will do the same.
#striderforever
OR go to classic and laugh at what these current developers produce until they are essentially replaced.
Can’t really say you’re selling this very well.
