Actually, in that regard, I don’t disagree. They could have done a way better job with making more unique ability mounts instead of just flooding the game with more standard ground/flying mounts.

You can’t use the flying as an example of “then don’t use it”.
Because it’s really that simple.
If players don’t like flying then don’t use it.

AFAIK, you can still earn the rep to buy the shoes, this is the dumbest thing to be upset about.
OK, that’s great then this mount equipment system will work out well for you gratz. But what MOST of us are fighting for is for the Water strider to be made exempt from mount equipment and left with it’s ability. That’s not too much to ask. But by doubling down on your love of this system your hurting our cause.
I don’t want mount equipment taken away from you. I just don’t want this new system to take something from me. IE the water walking mount ability that is naturally on my water strider.
I earned that and I should be able to use that when I see fit and I should not have to buy it back and eqip it and forgo using the new system at all because I want back what I already had to begin with. I don’t mind if they make this bug super slow over water and land forcing me to want the water walking shoes, I could live with that. I mind that they are stealing back something that I earned and tampering with it before giving it back to me.
I’m angry that I am gonna stick on water walking equipment and never going to get the chance to use the other ones unless I sacrifice my ability to waterwalk. That’s something I should never have to do, because I already earned it.
I know you like this mount equipment and heck I like certain aspects of it too. But the removal part is wrong and you know it as well as I do.

8.2 is going live in 2 days, it is really rather silly to waste time arguing about changes to the new system now. You already know the strider isn’t getting an exemption.

Been fighting it for months now and I will continue to fight it even after it goes live no matter what anyone says. It’s wrong and it punishes people who want what they already had by taunting them with a system they can’t use unless they sacrifice. That is NOT RIGHT and I will fight it every chance I get. Thank you very much!

I agree, part of the fun for me now when I get bored or disillusioned of the current patch is I go back to earlier content and grind rep for faction specific treats, and its so rewarding to get this or that from them. If they hand out the water strider ability that I spent weeks getting It cheapens the game immensely

Sooner (hopefully) or later, you’ll move from this “Anger” stage to “Acceptance”. Just as the portal folk did.

What mount will you now use for water-walking, just your regular ground mount or will something be designated as “the waterwalker” even though the eq slot covers them all at once?
I think I may use one of the pandaren racial turtles.
I feel you ever since it released I’ve been doing loremaster. Draenor is gonna be fun… Walking around.

calling this an issue is like getting all salty when too many people drive a similar car.
it literally does not matter what mounts other people use other than in your own mind.
If someone doesn’t like feeling “forced” to use the water strider, the only thing stopping them from doing so was their own self.

Why people can’t understand this is beyond me
There is a reason people are always on there water strider. You have an expansion you can’t go anywhere in without hitting a river people are going to want water walking.
Also You can have 2 hours of daze protection right now with leatherworking bardings which generally sell under 100g each (4 hours if your a leatherworking).
Mount Equipment is all about taking something away we all ready had. Also my understanding is you will now lose your water walking if you take fall damage so that in itself is a nerf.
Its so simply how they could have fixed this. Either left the water strider alone, or just not added this unrequested feature at all.

It’s a matter of taste. I loved the strider when I first saw it back in MOP (so much so, I focused on getting it), and I still love it today.
The thing is, no one forced you to use the strider (or even go earn it). There have always been other methods of walking on water. I am glad that you are happy to be able to use the water walking shoes.
If it makes you enjoy the game more, that is a good thing. However, keep in mind that removal of mount specials by turning them into consumable will set a precedent.
A time could come when you will be forced to switch mount equipment for your everyday tasks like repairing, transmog, AH, Herbing, etc.
Same here. When I first saw it in MOP, it could mine, but it was so annoying. Then they took the mining away from it and made it herb only, so now I never use it at all.
However, I do not want to see it lose another one of its abilities. That would be wrong.
And if/when that happens, it will be a sad and annoying day on Azeroth.
Well, it is a nerf to the water-strider’s passive. Also, no one who is pro-strider is advocating for the removal of the equipment system. I think it is great you can finally ride the boat across water, or mounts that will look strange crossing water.
With that said, I do not want mount special abilities removed from the game and replaced with a consumable that the bulk of the players cannot afford.
Especially at a time when the developers have nerfed gold rewards to the hilt for those who do not actively farm gold.

We pro-portal people have not accepted that they gutted the portal system at all. It just added 1 more nail, as the strider decision, the removal of PVP vendors, pathfinder, etc. has.
