Mount equipment *sigh*

Because when CM’s see people sucking up to Blizzard on the forums they allocate ‘bad luck prevention’ points which helps them get better loot.

Or some variation of that entirely unfounded superstitious mumbojumbo.

And if that’s the case we are getting horrible content because of some superstitious means.

we’re talking horde druids here… they aren’t that smart. they just try to flee in water form… only ever shifting out to heal.

You do have a point there ,everything will change in 9.0.

Just wanted to point out THERE ARE TWO STRIDERS!

So many people talking about the azure and leaving poor lil crimson out.

TANGENT!

What about the swimming mounts? Does this mean I can anti-daze and use the swimmers? Maybe new tactic is go just under the surface with a water breathing pot instead of over with the bugs.

I hated the water strider. I have it and I ABSOLUTELY LOATHED IT! It was such an ugly mount and there were literally only 2 mounts with baseline water walking, both of them being a Water Strider. I am far more excited and happy to have mount equipment over those ugly bugs.

In fact, if I could, I would delete my Water Strider from my mount journal with 8.2 hits. I am beyond delighted that I will never need to use it again and can use any mount for water walking.

Then do so,go right ahead it’s yours. That we wouldn’t care if you did.But i hope you realize one day any of your mounts can be deleted by Blizzard if they want.

You never NEEDED it. I’m sure you have access to water walking pots.

I don’t understand mount equipment either.

I don’t think the speed bonus stacks with other bonuses so it will be useless in most situations.

No dazing we already have that as a consumable. It’s not that interesting regardless.

Water walking mount we already have that.

Very lackluster system.

So don’t use it?

I bought a sky golem for the utility, but the look of it, the whirring noise it makes, and the way it bobs and weaves when it flies all make me use it very rarely. But that doesn’t make me cry out for a nerf on it. I just wish they would make more mounts with the mounted herbing ability, which they could, easily.

And by the same token, they could easily have made more water walking mounts, too, and left the striders alone.

But no, we get this crappy system where every mount on a character gets the same ability. Horses, dragons, raptors, scorpids, brutosaurs, mechanopeeps – every one of them get the same ability. /golfclap @ Blizzard.

It is still amusing that people try to bandy this lie about. Mount equipment will most likely be treated like profession-based enhancements, like enchants or gems. If you want to water-walk, anti-daze in 9.0, there will be “Boots of 9.0-whatever”, and so on.

This Chicken Little doom and gloom stuff is  worthy, but at the end of the day it is just that.

Tarc, how many game systems have been removed over the course of the game? How many more have been “improved” because they allowed something Blizz didn’t intend only it was that way for 2 expacs?

And when they remove this garbage system, remember to adapt or move on.

It’s not that big of a deal.

You may be right, but you are speculating just as much as others are. You don’t know what’s coming in future expansions, just like others don’t.

If you are correct, and there will be “boots of 9.0…” it’s not unreasonable to think they will gate them behind recipes, materials, etc. that aren’t available until much later in the game, or from raid drops, rare drops, or whatever – which would effectively shut down the use of the equipment.

It’s also entirely possible they could scrap the whole system come 9.0.

And in 8.2, these not so smart druids will have access to flight form if they are able to leave combat, jumping out of the water and instantly flying away. Yeah, Druids are the most annoying class to chase down for a large number of reasons.

The issue is there’s no reason to take it away from the water strider. Why not just add the slot and allow whatever mount you want to be the water-walking one, while leaving the strider as always and automatically having it?

This would have been a far better solution.

Not many people do anymore.

That’s such a cop-out answer, it’s the same weak answer that people give to people who do not like flying.

“Oh just don’t use it then!”

It’s a major point of utility, that drastically improves once quality of life in game. You mentioned the Sky Golem but it’s on a completely different level than that. The fact that I can now choose to use whatever Mount I want and gain the benefits of water walking is a massive buff, and the fact that it’s trying to be played off as a Nerf is amazing to me.

In fact, how about I just use your answer to you not liking Mount Equipment?

“If you don’t like it, don’t use it.”

I’m quite content to have my freedom of choice in Mount now.

For the sake of civility, I’ll concede my answer may have been a “cop out answer.”

However, the main thrust of my post was to assert that a better solution (IMO) wold have been to add more water walking mounts.

They also could have added more “special ability mounts.” For example, more herbing mounts, mining mounts, slow fall mounts, mounts that glide in no-fall zones, mounts that are faster, mounts that leap, and yes, mounts that walk on water. Real choice, instead of a system where every one of a character’s mounts has the same ability. That would have been a far more creative, useful, and quite frankly, fun system.
