Sucks for all those people that did the grind for Water Striders.
Yes it is, but they are now making you choose either water walking or not being dazed. You Can NOT do both like you can now. It’s one or the other, So with 8.2 you will have to constantly have to switch between the two.
Just another nail in the coffin for this game, at least for me.
It is a long overdue change. Will be interesting to see how we obtain the mount equipment on the PTR.
There will never be another topic so full of entitlement frenzy as the Portal Jockeys.
Why would there be an impact on sub-100s? You can fly at 60.
Is there a sub-60 zone that would really be impacted by no water-walking?
Jesus, it’s been seven years.
No, I mean like when the next xpac hits and no one can mount over water because mount equipment doesn’t work with the new code and blizz shurgs and says “sorry guys it’ll be fixed in a future patch when we introduce the new rep grind and you’ll be able to get it back when you get exalted.”
doesn’t it still work the same way, i don’t recall them mentioning it not having waterwalking before 110
So what? Time for it to be removed from the game?
Restricting this new system to level-capped and near-level-capped toons - the most empowered characters in the game - doesn’t make much sense. Such a system would make more sense for those characters at the beginning of an expansion, not at the halfway point.
Concerns about parachutes and dazing and waterwalking tend to drop to the bottom of the list of concerns when flight is available.
That’s not the issue. The issue is this “boy they’re gonna regret grinding” shlock.
This game is on eternal reset, every expansion. Do you regret the time you spent building up your garrison and maxxing out your followers? Do you regret the time spent getting raid drops to power up your MoP cloak?
If so, then maybe it’s time to load up a static experience, like FFVII.
They’re taking something away from us (the waterwalking mount) so they can give us something worse in return.
This could have been an amazing system had they just focused on ways they could make the game better with it, but instead they had to go and make something else worse to “encourage” us to use it.
Be honest, you like many others probably hated* the fact that the strider (quite ugly and annoying in sound) is currently the only mount able to water walk and would wish to use another. This is a good change at HARDLY a steep price. Calm down.

I admit, I am disappointed it won’t have it’s unique flavor anymore. That being said, now any mount you want can be a waterwalking mount. I don’t see how that’s particularly a bad thing.
Could also just have the passive water walking effect that has a level limit, similar to Legiondaries.
The smart thing to do would leave water striders alone but make them ineligible for the extra mount gear. They keep their innate water walking so low level toons still get to use them but players can’t double dip with other equipment. If players want to water walk on other mounts then they can buy the equipment. This isn’t hard to figure out, why does Blizzard have so much trouble?
Except that’s STILL taking stuff away from us.
I made a blacksmith this expac specifically to make the monolite stirrups so I could gather while mounted on my strider while farming in Nazmir. So if we only get one equipment slot, we have not only lost water walking + barding, we lose water walking + gathering.
Oh, you’re assuming that everyone who got the mount did so during MoP and not when flying became gated every subsequent expansion. That’s weird.
They don’t provide unless they take something away from us.
Look how much we lost during the transition between Legion and BfA

This seems like the most fair approach to this new feature being implemented in 8.2. When I heard about this on YouTube I was like “Oh Sweet Jebus this isn’t going to go over well.”
Wow is old. Some old mechanics will not mesh well with new ones and need to be rearranged or scrapped sometimes.
Every MTG players is super familiar with this, but all games in general that last as long have in some way had to do similar things.
Get over it.
If you want your strider to be “special”, then put the waterwalk equipment on that mount again.
I, however, cannot wait to make my Underrot Crawg my new water-walker.

This, this and this.
EDIT: You know how long I’ve waited to make one of my turtles water walk?

lmao what?? It’s the exact same mechanic but now only levels 100+ can use it. What are you even talking about?
