Mount Equipment and the Water Strider

Since last Thread Was locked:

The mount equipment is a great idea, I love it. Add in more equipment, there are so many possibilities.

But please leave my water strider alone, exempt it from the equipment Like the other mounts with abilities.

Agreed. Without the strider, you can’t really level with a water walking mount on multiple alts unless you a sir rich money bags and only use one server

Too late, OP, Blizzard believes in this equality stuff where people who work for stuff should be on the same level as people who don’t work for stuff.

Everyone wins if they just leave the water strider alone and add in all the mount equipment they want. We still get to keep what we worked for and its still available for any one that wants to farm it. and all mounts can walk on water.

Step 1: Retrieve the waterwalking item everyone receives in the mail, free of charge, who already has a water strider.

Step 2: Use the item on your strider.

Step 3: Pretend nothing has changed. Because essentially, nothing has.

Costs far less energy than complaining incessantly. Unless, of course, complaining is the point.

It costs a lot less energy to not work for anything in the game and just wait until it is spoonfed to you to keep everyone equal.

Whats wrong with rewarding people that put in the work for some thing? Buy leaving the strider alone it rewards the people that worked for the rep, which is what blizzard wants us to do, work for rep.

It still gives everyone water walking and it still gives everyone the Choice to work for the reward or not to.

Does this apply to the Crimson Water Strider or just the Blue one?

While I think the current system their gonna add is fine, it does need a vital improvement imo.

Instead of the equipment being character specific and apply to all mounts on that character (so if you equip the WW item, all mounts that particular character can use get WW) I would rather have it be mount specific but account wide (so if I equip the WW item to my Champions Treadblade, only that mount has WW, but any character that can ride it gets WW while riding it)

I would imagine that’s harder to code compared to what we’re getting now, but would probably alleviate 99% of people’s problems with the system, even if they still removed the Striders innate WW passive.

It applies to both, from what we can tell for each one you own you get a free WW item when the patch drops, and then you can go back to the vendor you bought it from and get the WW item for like 50g each, and the item is mailable accountwide.

The problem (from Blizzards perspective) is most likely that people would just keep using the Striders for WW and just equip another mount equipment item (like the anti-daze one) and nothing would change from now, even if the Strider was exempt from equipment.

Most people would still only use the Strider for its utility, as opposed to you actually like it.

You’ve already been rewarded for the rep; you got a mount out of it.

When the change goes live, you’ll also get a free WW item out of it.

Like I said, just use it, and realize that nothing has changed except that now you can make any mount have WW.

Again what is wrong with rewarding people for something they worked for?

I think Harvard should let me buy all the bachelor’s degrees i want for the 100,000 dollars it cost Joe to get his degree in 4 years. I know, I know, Joe worked for his Masters, but we are revoking it and sending him a free bachelor’s degree the mail, and he can buy all the bachelor’s degrees he wants for the low low price of $50. I mean Joe was already awarded with a masters degree, but he is getting a bachelor’s degree out of it and nothing has changed. Joe should just be happy with the new bachelor’s degree, its still a college degree after all and he still has the paper the masters was on.

You’re being obtuse, and you know it.

Your long and nonsensical pseudo-analogy notwithstanding, you were, in fact, rewarded for grinding the rep. You got a mount. In addition, you will get a free WW item, to use however you see fit, for each water strider you worked for.

You are complaining about a nonissue, which leads me to believe complaining is the point. So, you know what? Be satisfied, or don’t. I’ll be over here water walking like nothing’s changed.

Because, effectively, it hasn’t.

I think ( and it is the only reason I could think of) is they are complaining because they won’t be able to double dip the mount effects. If the Strider keeps water walking then they get to put another effect on different mounts and still double dip.

If I am wrong I apologize and would like to know why removing WW and then reapplying it are a problem.

And If I am right, guys I get it would love to DD myself, but lets face it. That is just being greedy.

Why is this a problem for anyone? Because some people are tired of seeing striders out in the world?

I get tired of seeing a sea of Yaks at every raid/dungeon but I wouldn’t petition Blizzard to nerf their specials just because I see them everywhere I go.

People need to get over this sense that everything must be equal. If people work and earn something, it should not be destroyed because it is “unfair” to those who did not work and earn it.

No, I purchased a mount that had a special ability. Giving me one free consumable shiny that is not up to the same standard and that can become a gray/limited use item at any point does not make up for what they are taking away. (Not to mention the fact that I have to go to Pandaria to purchase the shiny for any toon under level 100).

See my comment above.

Now about the “double dipping”. If you want to use that argument, then at least acknowledge the fact that everyone in the game would have the same opportunity to “double dip” should the strider keep it’s ability.

You call it double dipping I call it versatility. They are not taking away something I use occasionally, they are taking away something I use a lot. Something I already earned.

Now I would be ok if the water strider was slowed while on water. Because at least I could change to the other abilities and not have to stop at the water and say to myself “DOH!!!” or accidently drown in rivers that I swear it looked shallow.

But in this case I kind of feel punished, jibbed out of really utilizing the new toys simply because I actually liked what I already had.

If Blizzard allowed the mount equipment be MOUNT-specific — not all-mounts-character-specific — and had the water strider with default water walking (that could be changed with a fee), then this would fix so many issues.

Make it mount-specific per character to make it more of a gold sink, if necessary. Just allow us to make more decisions, allow for more customization, and leave the water strider alone (but still allow changes if the player wants).

A good idea implemented poorly: Blizzard’s MO.

It does the same thing. Literally, the same thing.

Now THAT is quite the rhetorical leap. That, as an argument, is so thin it makes carbon nanotubes jealous.

Inorite? All that bother of stepping through a portal and taking a FP, ugh. What are we, peasants?

No, they already know they wont be able to do this; because it’s pretty widely known that the Sky Golem, with it’s ability to herb while mounted, will be unable to benefit from mount equipment.

Now, there’s a legitimate argument to be made that the Striders could, and perhaps should, follow this same model; that they could retain WW and just be unable to benefit from any other mount ability. As of now, however, they aren’t; and therefore the sky is falling and the developers hate us and this game sucks and the universe is going to explode and blah, blah, blah.

Complaining to complain, in other words.

No, you don’t get a free water walking mount and have the benefits of every other mount equipment as well.

That’s literally why Blizzard made mount equipment, to get away from that.
