Received my 525th mount today for my main character in-game, And it was the new 6-month subscription promotion mount! My newest mount is Wen Lo, the River’s Edge!

Also to clear things up, yes the achievement says “usable on one character” but it is a lie. Its a tracker for UNIQUE mounts across the entire account including factions but disregards mounts that have a direct equivalent on the opposite faction such as PvP mounts and original faction rep mounts (Data for Azeroth counts these, Blizzard and the achievement don’t). This is why the Alliance bike and Bee mount count if your Horde ,and Kua’fan and Child of Torcali count for Alliance. They are unique mounts associated with a unique reputation or quest line. The mount achievement doesn’t care if the rep or quest is only available to one faction, it just cares that the mount exists.
This is also why BFA rep mounts count on both factions, the reps are not the same across factions, hence different mount rewards and so they count for both factions.
Legion class mounts also count but the original class mounts do not, hence the need to use a Paladin to get the highest possible mount count. My guess is Blizz coded the Legion class mounts a bit differently so that they do count on the achievement unlike the original class mounts and could be seen as an outlier.
Basically every mount counts except original classic faction mounts (I’m including Panda’s in this), PvP mounts (you only need one factions original rep mounts and PvP mounts, not both). and Non-class hall class mounts only count on the class they are usable on. If you follow this not so straightforward rule, you’ll find it makes a bit more sense.
I still wish Blizz would just update the achievement to track the API or the journal and just count everything as it would make things simpler. Or update the wording of the achievement to say “unique” and not usable.

Just looted my 526th mount from the rare, Reliwik the Defiant in Korthia! My newest mount is the Garnet Razorwing!

Finally obtained the Sinrunner Blanchy mount in-game. You get this mount by doing specific tasks for the NPC, Dead Blanchy for (6) days.
As a result of this, My mount collection now stands at 527 mounts obtained that I can use on my main!

I’m nowhere close to most of y’all in here! I’m only sitting at 227. I know I can still go out and buy the flying BFA faction mounts, but since those are still a little pricy for me right now those will have to wait.

We’re here for you! That’s why this thread is a called a support group.
Fun fact: years ago when this thread was created, it was a place for us to whine about the mount that wouldn’t drop or to ask for help. I have no idea when this happened but it turned into a place to keep count.
The “v25” in the title is where we stopped because of how the new forums work. There was 24 threads before this one but they had a page cap and that’s why we had to keep creating new ones.
