Most in demand specs for current patch and ICC?

I never played Wrath Classic at launch. I think after playing vanilla and TBC I was a bit burnt out.

If I were to make a character on Benediction or Faerlina, which specs do you think would make it easiest to gear up and eventually raid?

You could check out discord recruitment threads to get a sense of what people are looking for.

In my opinion though, you’ll be best off playing the spec that you most want to play, as you can most likely find a guild with days/times that work for you that will also take you as that, and you’ll enjoy it. If you roll a spec because you think it’s what others want, it might be difficult to keep playing it if you face any hurdles at all…

Holy paladin is pretty solid. Their gear is the actual dirt cheap option on the AH and they can use any gear type to increase their healing so they have the most options when gearing up if other dont need it.

DK is pretty solid overall.

You cant go wrong with a Warlock.

Priests are pretty good as well.

Ultimately though, play what you have fun on.

I was wanting to play paladin (even holy) but whenever I do a /who Dalarin like 1/4 of players are paladins lol.

Was also thinking shaman, druid, rogue, priest, or warlock.

I just said holy paladin because of the cheap items and you can wear anything as long as it has sp on it really.

Play what you find fun. I havent been seeing many cloth wearers as of late (on my server).

Ultimately just play what you enjoy more. Even if it’s a common class you’ll be more likely to work hard at it and improve and you’ll set yourself apart compared to other players.

Well I’ve heard they only take 3 healers per 25 man raid. Is this the case? Seems like it would be easy to gear up with dungeons, but maybe not raid.

It depends on the raid. I can see a lot of people using 3 healers. Prior they have used around 5 depending on the fight.

Im biased towards warlocks (first character ever) and Demo is pretty fun in my opinion, especially when you get to execute range with Decimation and then getting Molten Core procs on top of that. Leveling is extremely easy as well especially as Affliction.

Hunter is not looking to be in a good spot unless blizzard does something about it.

Love playing my hunter, hate my warlock, thats just me, pally and dk are the most saturated classes and easiest to play. Clothies are the hardest to gear and have to compete with every spell caster in the game for their gear, its not the class, its the player. What raids need most is committed and reliable players not just warm bodies behind a toon.

There are a lot of S-tier specs.
And it’s really hit or miss.

One guild can be full on all S-tier specs, such as Affic lock, UNH DK etc.
But guild right next door may be lacking said classes.

Same goes for D-tier classes too.

Same applies to roles as well. Expect most guilds to be full on Tanks and Healers though. Occasionally, some of those leave for any possible reason, however, those are pretty competitive spots and do require trust of the guild.

Here is the latest DPS ranking chart for TOGC.

IMHO, the 2 worst things you could possibly do as a returning player:

  1. Go a spec/class/role you absolutely hate.
  2. Pick the bottom spec. (D-tier spec, such as BM hunter, Sub rogue, Frost Mage etc)

Pick the class/role you enjoy. For the mega servers you mention, they odds are you will find yourself a home. You’ve clearly have some game time under your belt, so I’m sure you will be able to pick what’s right for you. Fun is very subjective.

I’d imagine that most guilds play for the FUN, but also strive to clear all content.
There are a lot of try hard guilds/raid teams out there. But there are equally as man “dad-guilds” who chug booze and laugh all night long.

I’ve done my fair share of prog guilds. Both in Classic and Retail. I’ve had enough of it. But I also don’t want to be doing only Normals for the rest of the expansion, so I settled with a guild that was perfect of both worlds. Fun. Decent prog. Good people.

Most guilds look for those who are willing to learn, commit time & fun people. Gear will always come sooner or later.
