For me it was Heroic SoO. Lots of fun with that as a spriest main back then. Popping Power Infusion when everything procced and snapshotting all of my dots never got old. I never geared past heroic difficulty (pretty sure I was in full Prideful glad gear) and snapshotting made me feel like I was actually doing something mechanical even though I wasn’t the most geared. Not to mention I’m a Garrosh Hellscream fanboy (He did nothing wrong)
What was the most fun raid for you when it was current and why?
SoO, was my peak of high-end raiding and was the last raid we got 10-man Heroic/Mythic. And classes were just outright fun to play.
The Emerald Nightmare for me. It was the pacing, the bosses, and environment.
Was always a fan of icc25
I loved argus ._.
Clearly Stockholm Syndrome set in for the SoO and Antorus people.
Ulduar easily.
I was in love with the progression through the zones and the overall content within Argus but the raid was meh.
Tops Kara-BT-SW
Then Nax-icc
Couple fights DS like airship-spine something knew at the time.
thats about it pre cata raids where the adventure to end the story arch/theme after that it became “content” and you see alot of rehashed mechanics.
Blackrock Foundry.
FOREVER AND ALWAYS, WILL BE ULDUAR
At least for me. The best raid ever made, optional hardmodes within normal difficulties, the only raid do to that.
Also it had a choo-choo, and the badass Yogg-Saron.
Imo it was the golden age of WoW. Highest subscriber count ever.
Everyone was playing, all my friends, and it was a time I’ll always remember.
Mythic BRF, with ToT a close second.
I will concede that we had too much of SoO as it was current tier for 14 months and that felt bad for its time.
From each expansion…
Vanilla: Naxx, but never got past 4H
BC: Black Temple…I played a Lock
Wrath: Ulduar
Cata: Firelands
Mist: ToT
Wod: BRF
Legion: ToS or NH…split on this one
BFA: BoD
For me it was Ulduar.
Like a lot of gamers’ favorites, my choice has more to do with the people I was with, than the content I was playing.
Ulduar! It was a long, scrappy raid with enough mechanics to make it fun without continually sapping player will to play.
(On my cluster anyway, I sure wish BFA hadn’t run off so many of the middle-of-the-road players who are good enough to coalesce and get some heroic raiding done, but understand that’s enough…)
Eh’, I’ve just learned that becomes part of the end-of-xpac tiers so don’t really ever count it against the raids themselves.
That and rolling alts through SoO was fun. Probably the only time I ever had fun tanking was abusing vengeance to top meters and melt bosses.
we had our pally solo-tank our first 10N Garrosh kill… he finished with top damage and top healing. good times!
Black Temple for me
Yep! After our like 3rd Garrosh 10H kill we started doing solo tank & solo heal.
Back when engineers had the rocket belt, so running balls I’d take the gamble and either go fast, go high, or burn.
WotLK - ULDUAR
The nuance in picking hard mode fights was just awesome. It was truly a great raid.
I think I still have some of our kill videos on YouTube from those fights from way back in the day.
