I was super interested in the Evoker until heavily testing it in Beta. It just feels like other ranged classes are dong a lot better in both utility and damage. What would you say your most favorite/fun ranged class to play would be and any? I’m torn between, Druid, warlock and mage at this point.

Boomy used to be really fun being able to cast on the move permanently. Now stellar drift is gone completely I believe.
Frost was very fun in keys but they nerfed Icy veins (or maybe it was the conduit) CDR effect.
Havent played warlock at all this expansion so can’t say.
Id go mage. Fire is kinda fun but very involved (to me atleast lol). Theyre also a main character of WoW

I think balance is really fun currently, though I don’t particularly like that they brought back eclipse. But it’s not terrible.
Mage is by far my most enjoyable PVE caster class. Something about shooting magic at people is just fun. Also the AOE is really engaging for me.
So yea…Mage would be number 1 then druid.

Try them all.
Leveling is so fast now, you can play a class and spec and level up quickly to the point you can get a feel of it’s core play style.
For me its demonology warlock
Its pretty satisfying as its deterministic
So many casters feel like youre spamming until random procs happen. Without them youre just useless.

i can’t speak to the playstyle but boomy is doing great in keys right now
i tanked a 14 lower this morning and the boomy asked me to pull big so he could look good. i died a couple times (lowish geared and new to prot warrior) but pulled big and he finished at just under 42k overall. dude was 283 ilvl, so not geared to the gills by any means.

I enjoy fire mage a lot…something about the fire effects for me and just the boom boom boom of the look of it, I dig. Probably my favorite caster alt.
I like warlock too, not sure which spec I prefer though, I don’t play them a lot.
Arcane mage and frost mage are ok.
I look forward to getting into Evoker, but if it plays like Shaman or Priest, I might find myself bored, we’ll see

For me either Afflic Warlock or Elemental Shaman. Just pure fun and great rotations to play with.
Honestly there’s a lot of things that goes into like picking a caster.
Do you like ramp? Do you like damage on demand? High burst? Dot class maybe?
Kinda depends on what you like. For me, I like CD based ramp classes, so I play things like demo lock, where your damage ramps up for a big ol CD. It’s fun to set up for, and it’s like playing a minigame inside of the dungeon.

Subjective opinions are subjective. Mind spike/mind blast tag team is my jam.

Elemental to me is the most enjoyable to play. I don’t do any structured PvE like raids/dungeons though. In open world I enjoy being able to either flame shock targets and instant Lava Burst them down while keeping on the move, or gathering a large pack and hitting them with a Stormkeeper Chain Lightning. Having to stand still and chain cast isn’t fun to me. I miss casting Lightning Bolt while moving.
From what I understand Ele isn’t great in dungeons/raids right now, the new talent tree has forced min/maxers into an unfun Lightning Bolt spam. PvP as Ele will hurt your soul though. Once any melee targets you just type /afk and get out.

did you play it back in the CoP/CoP-lite era? if so, is it similar? (obv without the trinket to weave in)
Only caster DPS I enjoy playing these days in Demonology warlock, although I’ve enjoyed ice mage at multiple times over the years.
honestly I’m of the belief that all specs can do their job competitively in any playstyle if you gear up and know what you’re doing. If you’re going for the top 1% or whatever, then that’s a diff story. But that’s just how I roll.
Balance Druid, Fire Mage and Elemental and Enhancement Shaman are my favorite casters.
Evokers, I just don’t find as engaging as them.
